19" vs 20" wheels

It really bothers me that BMW doesn't do an all season tire on the 20" wheels for the X5. I think a 20" wheel looks so much better than the 19". I live in a northern climate so getting the 20" with a performance tire won't work. I don't want to have to get a separate set of wheels and tires for the winter. The Mercedes ML350 lets you upgrade to a 20" AMG wheel that comes with an all season tire. That is what BMW should do. Is it because the vehicle has to have run flats and there is no run flat all season in a 20" that the buyer is forced to the 19's if they need all season tires? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I think you hit the nail on the head, run flat issue or else why would BMW not offer an all season option.

Lots of threads on this one. It is what it is (I really despise that phrase but it fits here) so choose your response. For me I love the stance of the 20's and wouldn't own it any other way. The upgrade to 20's is relatively inexpensive. Either change to all-seasons before next winter and sell the summer tires, or buy a winter set, or go 19's. All 3 paths have pros & cons. If you decide to change to 20 all-season tires, there is a lack of all-season run-flat options, so you might consider ordering the $150 spare. Everyone here is face with the same situation.
