Does A.S.S. mess with Progressive Snapshot

Every time my car shuts on and off the Snapshot resets. Has anyone had any experience with this giving weird info to snapshot?

Yes everytime the engine shuts off the snapshot will think it was a trip, so it will show 30 trips a day if you are just driving around in stop and go.

I had a 25% discount on our SUV and prior to the BMW had a 20% discount on an Accord, drove around with the snapshot for 6 mos and got 0% discount. Not sure what it was, I suspect that even thought they say they don't track speed, hitting 100 mph a couple times on the highway pretty much killed any discount they were gonna give.

Actually they do track speed. Per the fine print.

Data We Collect

The Snapshot device records vehicle speed and time of day, and when the device is plugged in and unplugged from the vehicle. It also records the Vehicle Identification Number. Other information, such as miles driven and rates of acceleration and braking, is derived from the speed and time information recorded by the device. Snapshot devices that contain GPS technology record location information for research and development purposes.

So there's no point then getting the Snapshot device on a car with ASS unless you disable ASS all the time? The whole idea seems a bit Big Brother to me but I guess if it saves you cash...

I currently have 30% off and use ASS regularly.

It just beeps on and off every time the engine restarts, thought it might screw with it but my discount is still high.

As long as you don't hard break or drive within busy times its pretty easy to get a discount. I drive a beater to work.

After 6 months you don't need it anymore.

Haha, just check out the device.. the problem is that the device doesn't know whether you speed but does track your G-force.. I don't drive fast but I tend to pull some Gs a lot

Same here, I brake too hard too often per 100 mile. My daily commute is mostly city driving. Thank you NYC cab drivers for messing up my snapshot result.
