Help with buying an E93

Hi all, Yes I am a Newbe. I have fallen in love with the 335i convertible. I found one at a local dealership, its a 2011 black/black with the nav., sport option, wheel paddles and sound system. Its everything I have been looking for. I'd like some help from the forum as to what I should pay close attention to other than the normal items when buying a car. What exactly should I look at with this year and model? I have read lots of very good things about these cars. Some faults like the fuel pump issue and maybe some roof noise or it getting stuck and the off chance of waste gate noise but is there anything else? I'm checking it out in two days and I'd like to be armed with information. Thank you in advance and I hope to be a contributing member very soon and hopefully enjoying my new to me E93.

2011's had any issues resolved pretty much. It had the N55 engine that didn't generally have the fuel pump issues that the 2010 and older N54 engined cars had.

Just make sure the top operates smoothly and doesn't bang when it closes against the windwhield header. If you can find a touch free wash, you can take it through it and see if it leaks anywhere - if they leak, it is usually minor and at the joint between the roof, header and side front sindows.

If the car has comfort access, try putting the top up and down with the remote while it is not running to ensure the battery is still good as running the top with the car off is a good battery test.

Make sure it idles nice and smooth, otherwise it can indicate carbon deposits or injector issues.

Otherwise they convertibles have proven to be a reliable mechanism - you won't be disappointed!

Thank you Rob. I will use that info. Very good idea for the battery test. I'm glad the new engine doesnt have the FP problem. The wash is also something I didnt think of trying. All good tests. Thanks again!

BMW does not recommend high pressure car washes. I'd be surprised if a dealership would let you do this.
