2007 328i just stopped and will not start

Hello all. I have a big problem. I'm on vacation near Savannah, Ga. My 2007 328i just stopped and will not start. It seemed to be the battery as i pushed the start button, the sound of start up just got weaker and weaker until there was no sound at all. The service light is on.
If I buy a new battery and install, will that get me back on the road? Need HELP.

Welcome to Bimmerfest. I've moved your question over to the E90 3 series forum as that is your chassis code. Try searching around in this forum for other members who might have had a similar issue. If your car was cranking and not firing that doesn't sound like the battery. Can you get a jump? That would be the easiest way to start tracking down the issue.

Take a look at the new member guide to get a better sense of how to use the site - http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=384118

1) See if car jumps
2) If yes, most likely the battery. Replace battery with a correct replacement and make sure the battery is registered with the onboard computer
3) If it does not jump, bring car in for diagnostoc.

Yes, but eventually, it will have to see a dealer or an indie so the proper battery coding can be completed.

If you buy a battery do not use battery back up

If you buy a battery do not use battery back up or
let anybody else use battery back up when installing the
battery it will blow fuses.
If you are getting weak turnover check the battery first.
You wouldn't be getting that with the cable problem.
You don't need to register the battery immediately but it should
be done .
Putting a charge on and seeing what happens would be a good
first step. Since you are stranded you need somebody to take
some measurements.

I have the same problem going on, I knew the battery on my 07 E90 was going to need to be replaced. We alternate cars so I don't drive her everyday, always starts fine but not as quick as the wife's.
Friday I drove about 5 miles to doctor then made several stops, all the while with A/C blasting and maybe jamming to much for an old guy. The last stop was just that, came out of store and inserted fob, hit button...nothing, well a half crank.
Called wife, got a ride, went back 3 hours later...nothing, now brake pedal won't depress correctly to crank. So I had the car flatbedded to my house, went to dealership the next morning and bought the Advanced BMW Battery Charging System. Hooked it up carefully doing everything right, after 6 hrs it signaled 80% charge, another 7 hrs and it read fully charged and on standby.
So this morning I went to crank her and nothing same thing, have done a lot of reading and seems it could be redoing codes or starter...Ikes! Flatbed coming back Monday morning and I am not happy.
Should I take her close by to my very good Indy or pay the long tow to BMW?
Thanks

Try jump starting.

It could also be an alternator issue. Possibly starter but I'm leaning toward alternator.

Nervous about where to take her, will the Indy have everything needed to diagnose?
