Post Io2 play problems

I recently had a io2play hands free kit fitted onto my E90.

The reversing sensors do not now work when playing music threw the io2play. on there installation instructions it says a wire needs to be fitted to the reversing light, this was not done.

I have complained to the installation company and they keep saying it would not work with this car due to the can bus etc.

My question is has anyone ever fitted one of these? and how do you make it work.

Many thanks Pete

Why don't you just run a line from the reverse lights? It's most likely just a 12v trigger.

You down have to use canbus but it would a much shorter cable run if it was canbus compatible.

This is the emails I have had from the company, afraid they are in reverse excuse the pun lol. I am at a total loss as to what to do.

Hi Peter

It is not straight forward on that vehicle as the bulb warning is CAN controlled and possibly even has LED bulbs (this is normally on later models).

Extra modules may be required depending on your vehicle.

Nathan

Thank you for your reply.

Can you confirm that this is straightforward on a BMW e90 320d I am being told by the installers that this will not work. My feeling is it is due to them not installing it correctly.

Many thanks for your help

Hi Peter

You are correct.
There is a wire on the PLAY 2 that when connected to the reverse trigger wire (+12V) will allow the kit to switch back over to the radio when reverse is selected.
This is the Blue/Green wire located on the auxiliary harness supplied with the PLAY 2.

Nathan

Message:-I recently had an IO2 play fitted by an installer. After it was fitted my reversing sensors did not work when using the io2 but do when it is not on ie no music streaming. I queried this and was told this was normal on my car and that your company had told them this was correct. The instructions state that there is a wire that needs to be fitted from the io2 play to the reversing light of my car. This was not installed. Can you confirm to me if your io2 play should allow the reversing sensors on a BMW E90 320d to work when correctly installed.
