Jerky automatic transmission fixed

I recently acquired a 06' 325i 110k miles with some transmission problems. It would bang doing 2-1 downshift and jerk going trough the gears up accelerating. Learned through this forum about 'lifetime' fluid fill in ZF sourced 6HP19 transmission and associated issues. Decided to look at it up close, and sure enough it was leaking at the mechatronic sleeve. Mind you, the leak was fairly small and would not leave any spots after extended parking. Ordered oil change kit for 6HP19/21, sealing sleeve (24347588725), adapter (24347588724) and sleeves (24107536339 x2, 24107536340 and 24107536341) for a good measure. Followed readily available DYIs + dropped mechatronic and replaced rubber adapter and sleeves between the machatronic and body. Mine were in fairly good shape though. Came short on transmission fluid as the kit comes with only 6 liters of Lifeguard6 fluid. Enough for filter change but dropping mechatronic drains additional 2 liters for the total of 7.5 liters fill. Run to the closest Ford dealer to pickup 2 quarts Mercon SP fluid. Filled transmission per ZF direction while monitoring the transmission temperature in INPA. Cleared adaptations.
I'm pleased to report that all banging and hard shifts are gone. I can still feel minor shift imperfections upshifting but overall it's night and day difference. Highly recommend spending a day replacing fluid.

Very good to know! Way to go. Amazing what new fluid and filter can do for these trannys. A lot of the time the solenoids get gunked up and cause the hard bang engagment and hard shifting as a bad tranny usually slips and flares. Keep us posted as it might get better as you drive more.
