Headlight alignment...

Ok guys so I got my new Depo headlights in. I went to a wall to do a rough alignment and discovered something and I can't figure out if it is normal or not, I've tried googling this many times...

If I line up my high beams so they are at the same height on the wall, it causes my low beams to not be at the same height, more specifically it causes my driver side low beam to be lower than the passenger side low beam, is this normal? Or do you think I have a defective headlight assembly?

I would also like to know once and for all what is correct. Every headlight alignment diagram I look up, it shows the low beams being at the exact same height, but I've read some people saying that the driver side low beam should be lower than the passenger side low beam. And I've also read some people say that they should be at the same height but the driver side should be pointed more to the right as to not blind oncoming traffic. Does anyone out there actually know?

Both headlights should be aimed at the same height, if that adjustment is correct you will not blind oncoming traffic (with regular headlights anyway).

As far as your alignment problems is concerned, the only thing that I can think of is that they installed the projector somewhat twisted; I would call the company.

I don't think the projector is twisted, because the upstick patterns match. And actually I remembered incorrectly, when my low beam heights are matched, my driver side high beam is lower than the passenger side high beam, weird right?

I still say that the one of the lights was assembled incorrectly; what else could cause the adjustment to be off when the low beams are ok and the high beams are not? Unless one of the bulbs is installed incorrectly (the light that is aimed the wrong way).

Nah, these housings make it impossible to install a light incorrectly. The high beam and low beam are mounted to an aluminum frame, and I think I'm going to try forcing the low beam down to twist the metal a little.

How often do you use your high beams? If they off a little bit I wouldn't sweat it b/c no one sees them but you.

I was actually referring to one of the bulbs being installed somewhat twisted. I have seen many bulbs installed upside down despite the fact that they have locator tabs.

Ya I know what you meant, but what I'm saying is that the asymmetrical shape of metal lip on the bulb matching the light bulb mount on the headlight literally makes it impossible to incorrectly mount the bulb in any way you can possibly think of.

I kind of forgot that I had started this thread and posted in another thread my success with grabbing the low beam housing inside the lid and bending it downwards, and holding it for a while to let the bend set in. Now the difference in angle between the low and high beam on both the driver and passenger side headlights perfectly match. I am very pleased with them now.
