Help Needed - Car stalled....then died!!

I've got an '01 330 CiC w/Step - 38k on it.

Today, on my way to lunch, it choked a bit when I went to start it. It started after 2 tries. Then, as I stepped on the gas when the light turned green, it stalled a bit, nearly dying.

As I entered the restaurant parking lot, the car sputtered, then completely cut out/died.

The "Service Engine Soon" light came on, and I'll be taking it to the dealer on monday, but I'm hoping someone may have some ideas on this. I've never had a problem with the car before, so I'm hoping the transmission wouldn't just up and die.

My 3yr/36 maintenance piece of the warranty has expired already, but since the Service Engine light came on, would this be covered under the 5yr/50k warranty?

One of our esteemed group members once posted that there are over 200 codes that will trigger the SES light....that`s a *lot* of potential problems, but since so many of us have had similar problems due to faulty ignition coils, this would be at the top of my list. And it *should* be covered under warranty....

Regards,
Bob

That's a warranty issue; not maintenance.
