Burning Smell? White smoke?

So I have had my 335i for 2 weeks now. I've noticed a few things with it that aren't really attractive. First is that when I am driving and I come to a stop, you can smell a burning smell, maybe burning oil coming from the car outside and through the A/C vents. Did some research and some were saying valve cover and gasket. But I don't know for sure. Another thing is if I run the car hard like on a take off, switching gears at 6k RPM. Faint white smoke radiates from under the car. Idk if these problems are related or not. But yeah. Any idea's?

hard take offs and stops would produce white smoke and a burning smell through my AC vents...turned out to be the valve cover itself. oil leaking onto the exhaust causes the smoke. replace all gaskets and see if it stops your leak. search for a DIY. easily done on a saturday afternoon for next to nothing. good luck!

White smoke? I agree with the previous opinions regarding the valve cover gasket for the oily smell, but have a real close and careful look around your turbo's for whitish streaks while you're at it.
Have you taken a look at your coolant level recently?

'white smoke' indicates some water-based fluid dripping onto some hot engine surface, or a gasket allowing coolant within engine to vaporize.

Macho! Especially like the wisps of white smoke....

But not normal. No. Set your Google for valve cover gasket, oil filter gasket, and coolant leaks.

How'd ya do?
