You've speced each car just about the same with the exception of the engine. I have the 35i and prefer it to the 4 cyl/8 speed set up.

There is generally room for negotiation... Start at invoice...work yourself up a bit $500 to $750 over, before incentives

+1

Remember... buy what YOU want.
And if you are not sure, wait longer until you know what you want.

I guess I'm just wondering what u guys think between the 2.0 and 3.0. Is there a big noticeable difference? I just can't decide between engine sizes. I'm going to test drive the 3.0 next week.

What are your thoughts on a noticeable differences between the engine sizes? Performance wise.

There are probably a fair number of threads on that topic you might want to review in addition to the responses you get here. The most recent I saw was this one.

My 2 cents is that it completely depends on what you want out of the car. If you just want a great car with plenty of pep when you need it, you'll love the 2.0. However, if when faced with a twisty little road with no traffic you want to get a creepy grin on your face, drop it into sport mode and really push some limits, you'll love the 3.0. I'm a creepy grin guy, so I love the x35i.

The good news is you won't make the wrong decision if you test drive both. You'll figure out pretty quickly if the increased performance is going to be worth it to you given the tradeoffs of initial cost and fuel mileage.

I haven't even driven a x35i or x28i, but when I drove the 28i I was amazed at the low end diesel like power.

I have to be careful when passing at low speed or my 255/40r18 Pirelli P7's slip and traction control can flicker.

I drove 400 miles to track day at 80 mph and strong front wind, tracked up to 100mph on the straight for about one hour, and got 23 mpg total ( measured-not center gauge).

I could keep a BMW with 3 liter from passing, so we were pretty even, and I'm very happy with my 2.0l.

If I bought x28i or x35i, I'd test both first myself.

I test drove the x28i. The dealer doesn't order many x35i's and said at this price point, not many want to pay the extra premium. That said, I thought the x28i was slow as a dog so I ordered the x35i.

There are no current incentives for building a 2015. I thought $750 over invoice was good so that is what I offered--immediately accepted. I should have done better research because truecar.com says $500 over invoice can be had.

The 35i engine is one of the best motors. I know the 6 speed is not ideal but there is an "Alpina B3 TCU" flash that helps.

I'm going to test drive both again. The dealer has a regular 3.0 but not one in the m model. I don't know if u guys think it will make a big difference for the test drive?

Also, when u say 500 dollars over invoice... Is that what u offer to pay the dealership? Why don't u just offer the invoice? I guess I'm a little confused about this part?

Well, in general there is not much incentive for them to order it for you at invoice. Unless, they are trying to meet some volume target or something.

BTW, not all invoices are created equal. Sometimes various fees like MACO, training or something else are added and counted as a part of the invoice. I like to base my calculations on a "clean" invoice.

my opinion: 35i has a better engine, 28i has a better transmission. The difference in price you know, so test and decide. M models come with sport suspension, so it is going to be different.

I will say that in almost all cases, MACO + service/training fees (both together ~$500) and destination (~$900) are added to the negotiated price. If you want a price that is before doc/title/tax, you better make that clear when you negotiate.

I just ordered an Xdrive 28i today, I paid $700 over invoice. With all of my internet research seemed like my price was pretty fair.
There are currently no incentives on the 2015 models built. The only incentives you might get is if they'd have any once your car comes in.

I put my order in for my 2015 in mid-March and it's supposed to arrive in about 10 days so it will be about 2 months end to end.

The sales guy told me 3-4 months when I put my order in but I think that they say that so when it gets here in 2 everyone's happy.

The last update that I got was that it arrived in Halifax last week and is probably on a train heading west right now. As you can imagine I'm getting quite excited.

I hope mine gets here by early/mid july. I have a long road trip that I want to break it in on.
I see we are getting the same color! I don't know what it is about Valencia but, it draws you in! Hope the next 10 days fly by for you!!!

Not sure, but maybe you're confusing invoice with MSRP/sticker price? If so, when others mentioned invoice they were talking about the wholesale cost the dealer pays to BMW. That's available on various websites including, if memory serves, cars.com and edmonds.com.

If you understood invoice, however, and were wondering why you'd include any markup, unlike many makes, BMW does not have any dealer holdback built into the invoice, so you generally have to pay a bit more than invoice (before considering any manufacturer's incentives) for a BMW.

For example, I got my 2014 X1 for about $500 over invoice. After applying the $1500 incentive available at the time I took delivery, I paid ~ $1000 below (regular) invoice.

Its too bad BMW didn't offer some kind of web cam for your car going through the production line. (or do they for some 7 series?)
I might have paid a few bucks to get a DVD of that.

Thanks a lot!

You must be my twin!. I just picked up (ED) that exact configured car on April 26th. It is outstanding!. I used it for a week in Germany on the Autobahn. After the first few hundred miles, I was cruising at 100-120mph for extended periods. It was absolutely planted . The only thing I would do with your configuration is add the 19" wheels (I did, and they are great!).

I did the same as you (100-120mph) on the autobahn, but I wouldn't call it planted.

I have the s28i M sport with 18 wheels so we both have staggered wheels, but you have heaVIER car.

At speed with wind it would want to switch lanes although it mostly handles very good.

I bought 18" so I could get smaller 25.1 diameter tires next time.

It does feel good at the track, but I think I'll try to minimize stagger by 12mm front spacers to stop high speed sway.

Just a side comment that the somewhat pricey tire insurance they may try to sell you during the purchase may be of limited value since Pirelli includes a default road hazard warranty.
