LAME E90 Video At BMW Web Site

Has anyone seen this?

How dull can it be?

They don't have real footage of a real car, so we get this goofy computer-animated rotating version of an E90.

Replete with dumb shots of the "road ahead" and the most pretentious four measures of music repeated over and over till you either vomit or tune out.

I did the latter.

Is this the best BMW could come up with?

Oy.....how embarrassing.

Ed

They do have footage of the real car on BMWUSA.com. I guess you didnt see the link for "Videos". There are five of them.

It's part of the marketing package. It adds to the mystique and hype. You see the car, but not the whole thing. Probably also going after the video game generation that is growing up.

Not that I agree with it, I think most marketing is bullsh!t. Just show me the damn car already!

Well, their marketing failed at getting me to buy a E90 (for now) but it succeeded in getting to me grab a ZHP while I still have the chance.

The only link I saw in my cursory search on the site for E90 info was the video I remarked on.

That it wasn't easy or clear where to go on BMW.com for quick info, brings up another sore spot for me; their crappy web site.!!!

With this new model on the horizon, you'd think BMW would be trying to generate excitement. Instead they bury the thing....

It's easier to get info here on the Bimmerfest home page. In fact, the BMW home page should look exactly like Bimmerfest's home page, with the E90 front and center.

Fwiw, I like the car, I just find BMW's marketing confused.

Ed, the information is right on the main BMW USA page.

Thanks Alex.

Again, I went to BMW.com and clicked "English", nothing happens.

So, I went to "international".

Up comes revolving pictures of new models, one at a time, for a brief few seconds each.

I click on the new 3 series when it comes around and it takes me to a page offering several download options.

I click for DSL and up comes the video in question.

Nowhere is a link to any other videos

Not only that, if I go straight to the 3 series section, I find nothing there as well.

The only reason I'm wasting time on this is marketing of this type, which I would define as "too slick for its own good" is a pet peeve of mine.

As the cars get more complicated the marketing follows, I guess.

Again, Bimmerfest has it right, a big, clear picture of the new three, a brief write up and a link.

What could be simpler?

Ed, I was talking about the www.bmwusa.com site.

We don't even have those videos on the german site.

IMO... I thought the computer-animated video was great.

Geez, they sure didn't put any kind of SSK in that car (in the video), did they?
