Convertible Luggage Set

I am looking at the convertible luggage set and have a few questions for anyone that has them. I have called BMW and looked on line and found no answers.

1. What are the sizes of the bags ? do they meet airline restrictions ? Is one of them the size of a carry on ? 22x14x9 are either of the two smaller ones the size of a personal bag ? I assume the larger one is too big and must be checked.

2. Can the set also fit in the trunk with the top up ? or down ?

3. are they leather ? and have you had any quality issues ?

4. Does anyone know if the 3 series luggage will fit into a new 4 series ?

Thanks
Kevin

Attache's 14" x 20" x 7" (probably too big for a personal item carry on)

That's awesome! I had no idea these existed and fit perfectly in the back seat. Awesome!

I have the BMW Luggage and use it when we go on car trips. The luggage is canvas and the quality is good. The two side bags are an unusual shape but they fit the back seat perfectly. I have never taken them on a plane as I have other luggage that I use for plane travel.

Thanks Capt. How do they fit in the trunk ? top up and or down ?

I remember reading that 2 22" international bags will fit so these should too.

To be honest I have never carried them in the trunk. We carry them in the back seat when we go on road trips and there is still room for luggage in the trunk even with the top down. I think or the E93 as a roomy two seater.

I live in a Manhattan Apt. and the luggage is stored in a room in the basement. In order to do the test I need to coordinate with the building porters to bet the luggage out and the garage attendant to move the car. I did not use the car last weekend but am taking it for an over night trio on Thursday. I will do the test Wednesday night,

Thanks !! You da best I appreciate all the trouble. My guess is either suitcase and the two attaches with the top down and all with the top up. Possibly the two suitcases with the top down and no attaches.

I did the test.

1. Either trolley bag will fit in the trunk with the top down but not both at the same time.

2. Both trolley bags will fit in the trunk with the top up but it is tight.

3. I am not sure if the side bags will fit in the trunk along with both trolley bags (top up) but it is doubtful.

4. One trolley bag and both side bags will fit in the trunk top down or top up.

5. Although it is not necessary it is much easier to load the bags into the back seat with the top down,

I took pics and will post them later.

Empty trunk;

Small bag lengthwise (top will go down)

Large trolley bag sideway (top will not go down)

Both trolley bags in the trunk. At least one side bag will probably fit. Top will not go down but the trunk closes.

Large Trolley Bag in trunk - Top can
go down. If the bag is turned sideways it will fit but the top will not be able to be lowered.

from these posts and the BMW bag dimensions it looks like in theory both BMW bags will fit in the trunk with the top down.

Small trolley in the back on its side against the back seat and the large trolley laying flat in front of it. Kind of the opposite of your 4th picture.

What do you think ?

I can try it again next weekend as I will be traveling and using the luggage but I reasonably sure both bags will not fit in the back with the top down, It is a tight fit with the top up.

The large trolley bag is wider at the bottom than at the top.

It will fit in the trunk top down when it is placed with the bottom end against the rear seat. When it is placed sideways against the rear seat the trunk divider will not lower and the top will not go down.

When it is placed with the bottom against the rear seat so that the top can go down there is no room for the small trolley bag.
