E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993.

S14 swap in 91 325ix

Currently I have a 325ix with the original m20 under the hood with a modified 5spd AWD driveline, the but the question would be, am I going to want to toss the current AWD setup out of the window when I swap for an s14? Am I going to want to replace to the original rear wheel drive setup with a rebuilt 5spd? And with an s14 could I fit an intercooler off an old dodge 250 cummins in the bay, the clearance on each side is just short of the air filter the way it is, but will that s14 stick further out than the m20?

Full disclosure this is coming from a former iX owner, but what about finding a different car to start with and driving the iX while you work on the other car? Or sell the iX to help fund the S14 project?

You already have a cool, unique car and you'd be putting in a lot of extra work just to remove it from circulation forever.

Obviously it's your car to do whatever you want with but I highly recommend getting the iX to someone who would appreciate it.

+1 to the above. Find a 2WD E30 and convert it instead of ruining an ix.

Use the ix or sell it to someone who is looking for one (and there are lots of people looking for one).

While it is hard to find a decent e30 shell to work from not even considering costs it is probably easier to start with the right platform as the guys above have stated. Good luck!
