Motor was jacked up too far, Popped motor mount and rough idle...help.

The motor was jacked up too far (01 325i) and the motor mount popped. Ran fine before but now the car dies at idle. Some light oil leakage exists. Will run when up to speed and transmission shifts fine. Any ideas on what the possible damage could be?

Check and see if hoses didn't get pinched or cut between the engine and body where the engine and transmission are bolt together.

The worse scenario is that you bend the crankshaft where the torque converter is. Check where the oil is coming from.

Good suggestions. Would one of these hoses cause the rough idle and motor stalling? Maybe it's nothing too serious.

The oil was something like a half-dollar size on the ground.

Yes. If you popped off one of the CVV hoses or something like the cam sensor wire coming off?. You'll definitely have that issue.

How's your o2 sensors?. Did the wiring come off or anything?. That's about the only other thing I can think of that would come off from almost removing the engine.

I'll take a look when I get a chance. It was jacked up way too high (don't ask) popped the motor mounts and then dropped. The rough idle immediately started afterwards. The motor mounts are the weakest link correct?

Well. Your motor mounts probably needed to be replaced anyways lol. Every E46 needs them after about 100k miles. Maybe a bit sooner than that in my opinion. Especially if you drive it hard.

But other than the things I had said above I really can't think of what else would of been effected. Like the intake is completely attached to the motor so if you moved it. It wouldn't of been damaged.

The fuel hose, depends on how much you pulled, there is an aluminum tube that might got bend and restricting fuel flow.
Are you getting any codes?

No codes. The red oil lamp comes on and off intermittently.

Elevating the motor could pop an O2 sensor? Still doesn't explain the oil that came out. Looked as if it it was running down from driver side center of the motor.

If you have a stock air box and did not have it removed from the car when you jacked up the engine, probably stressed out your intake boot. Likewise secondary air hoses. Oil from drivers side of engine is most likely OFHG leak.

That and electrical wires that go to sensors.

If the oil leak wasn't there before, you are actually looking for a crack, the CVV hose the one to the dip stick is another high possibility, but that will give you codes and you don't have any.

What is this part? Mechanic said vacuum leak and pushed on this. Idles much better. He said the mounts were ok but the car's weight dropped down off the lifted motor and to me there is vibration there. There is a light knock as well. Click image for larger version

Also the orange oil light comes on intermittently. The car sat there for a few days. No signs of oil on concrete or around motor.

So the intake hose was loose. That was the main issue. The radiator fine has a wobble now since it hit the shroud. Runs good so far after I fixed the intake. Still hear I bit of a whistle. Maybe a vacuum. No warning lights except brake indicator lights because I have the module removed.
