2011 328i vert (E93) all of a sudden very rough idling

Drove to work. No problems. Came out, it was raining, ran to car and got in. Started car and immediately idled very rough. No abnormal lights came up on the dash. I let it run for a minute and then I turned it off. Restarted the car and the rough idling was still there. This time the "Check Engine Soon" light illuminated.

I drove home - 4 miles. Once I pulled into the garage, it felt rougher than before. It also sounded like a knocking sound was coming from the engine.

I'm having it towed tomorrow to the dealership. Should I use the BMW roadside assistance or my AAA card instead and what issue could this be? The car is under warranty.

Rough idle is usually a coil pack gone bad

This happened to me last month. Code reader read Cylinder 6 misfire. Ended up being an ignition coil. Don't replace just one. I would replace all 6 and while you have everything open, you might as well change the spark plugs unless you recently did.

You were right. The coil was bad. They fixed it before I could ask them to replace all of them and the plugs, too.
