'02 325CI with 5 codes, rough and fluctuating idle

Hi all,

For over a year I've had an intermittent fluctuating idle that drops down to 500 rpms and then surges back up. Usually only happens when the climate control is on. I vacuum tested, sealed up everything, replaced intake boots, new ICV, cleaned throttle body, all the normal fixes. Nothing worked and it never had any codes, making it hard to diagnose.

Well shortly after replacing the battery, I finally got codes.

P1620 - low voltage on engine coolant level switch signal
P0313 - misfire with low fuel
P0102 - MAF sensor issue or cracked hose
P0174 - rich or lean air/fuel ratio
P0171 - air/fuel ration off in one engine bank only

Here are pictures of the codes I got. What's causing my rough idle? It runs great other than the idle. I checked the intake section and nothing is loose or cracked.

Focus on the last two codes first. Lean codes - vacuum leak in the intake or low fuel pressure. E46 wiki has a good link on this in the engine/troubleshooting section. check fuel pressure, do a smoke test...... ccv system, disa gasket are ususal suspects besides boots.

clean your maf sensor too. wiki has the procedure. just spray it with maf cleaner off the car of course.

also the 1620 code means you probably need a new thermostat soon.
