Update to GT

Hi all,

I have a 2012 535 coming off lease next spring. This is my third. Maybe thinking of a GT in order to be a bit different.

Any idea when the next body update will be for the GT? Current style is one year older than F10.

Thanks,

Andrew

The LCI just occurred for MY2014. Considering each life cycle is either 6 or 7 years I would conjecture 2016 for next generation as GT began sales in 2010 for US and 2009 for EU. May occur in 2017 for US.

But the above is just a SWAG.

Then there may some hints from the GT's upscale cousin:

Looks like they stole the rear end of a Bentley...particularly the taillight assembly. One would think for $400k+ you would get something that could differentiate itself from its competitors (besides a badge). Probably will never be a concern of mine though so I will cease and desist.

In person, what caught my eye as I pulled up behind it, was the resemblance in its profile to the gt from the rear corner.

In all honesty, I find the GT to be much better looking than the Wraith. I hope BMW continues to offer the GT in the US for years to come, but fear slow sales will seal its fate.

I share the same feelings but feel a bit better with the arrival of the 3 GT.

Have not seen past year's GT sales but the GT was outselling the touring upon first introduction (and those were US numbers). The fact BMW is continuing to sell both in EU and just introduced the 3GT is a great sign that this form factor is being embraced by both the company and consumers. Obviously we are at the whim of the NA branch of BMW, however I don't share your pessimism concerning the fate of our vehicles. Personally I have seen 3 new 5 GTs in our area in as many months. Considering our local dealership never carries more than 2 new and perhaps 1-2 CPO I'd say sales of the GT are inline (dare I say exceeding?) with local dealer expectations.

Bringing up the wraith was a point aimed at the GT naysayers who criticize it's looks as the Rolls Royce borrows from it's profile lines IMHO.

There are two 3 series GTs I see regularly and five 5 Series GTs I see around town.

Personally, I don't think the dealers have embraced the GT at all...I do not think they mention it, rarely have one on the sales floor, and may not have one in stock at all. It's hard to sell a car without even talking about it. I've said it before, but when BMW introduced the vehicle to the USA, they seemed to only send out fully loaded 550GT's, and the dealers I think ate them...the bad taste sticks around.

Tulley BMW has a 5 series and 3 series GT. All the dealers around here have at least two or more new and a couple more CPO.
