IMO, this has nothing to do with Adaptive Cruise Control. What I infer from it is that when one is driving and the car anticipates a roundabout, possibly the suspension would tighten, ARS would be ready in advance and the gear would shift into a lower one.

It only affects the transmission shift points as of now- although in theory it could also work with the adaptive suspension as you suggest

I wonder if there will be some software/firmware changes that filter down to the 2014 models.

Also, I don't see any new exterior colors (on the 535d). What new colors are there?

The key excerpt is here:

A richer experience thanks to intelligent networking: 8-speed Steptronic transmission with proactive drive system.

From the summer of 2014, the new 8-speed Steptronic transmission with a proactive drive system will also be available for the models of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series and BMW 5 Series. On vehicles equipped with a navigation system, the proactive drive system ensures that the moment to shift gears is precisely adapted to the prevailing driving situation even if the navigation system is not active. The Proactive Driving Assistant works in tandem with the navigation system and "sees" a bend or a roundabout ahead and takes into account turn-offs and motorway exits. If the vehicle is approaching a roundabout or a bend, the transmission automatically changes down to the most appropriate gear, making optimum use of the engine braking effect. Subsequently, the system again shifts to the optimal gear for accelerating out of the bend. Furthermore, unnecessary gearshifts and hunting between bends are avoided through intelligent interaction with the navigation system.

BMW removed the standard BMW Office (2 phone full pairing, email and text display, text to speech functionality) and the Smartphone integration (2 microphones, center console baseplate and cabling) and repackaged it as a separate 6NS $500 option for MY2015.

Decontenting at its finest. That's all.

BMW's ultimate response was $2000 towards a new vehicle. So I would have been $8000-$10000 upside down to fix a problem that I was never aware of in the first place, and could have been solved by a $500 option.

They denied my request on a 2014.

Strange, I was able to order four zone climate on my '14 550i, was delivered in April.

Where are y'all seeing the leather dash stuff? I keep seeing black dashboard but not leather option.

It's under the executive package, at least on the 550i.

I got LED fogs as a special order option on the no-line so I'm Ok on those.
As for the money - I didn't order recently. I just came back from European Delivery which I ordered back in Feb/early March. We negotiated price over invoice, I didn't get option allowance. Is that something that happened recently?

Yes, it is different. But I was not talking about M-Sport - I was talking about the sports steering wheel which will come standard on 2015 models

It's not about pricing. I made the mistake to not order sports steering wheel. What I didn't realize - until I got in my car in person - is how cheap the standard steering wheel looks. Like it belongs in a Kia. It totally ruins the look and feel of expensive sedan. Now I'm thinking about retrofit - but that is probably way too much $$ to be worth it

You can order it, it's an M Performance part.

Is there a special code for the 4 zone climate control? And what is the MSRP on it?

I think the four zone is code 4NB. It has an MSRP of either $500 or $550, I think I got it for $450. It goes require your CA to jump through some hoops and get regional and German approval to add it to your build. It it great, identical to what you get on the 7er.

Thanks for replying....can you please confirm that apart from temp control knobs for the rear, this gives vents on the B pillars as well?

Looks like my car might become a collectors car since it may be the one Modern unit sold in the US I selected Modern over Luxury primarily for the rims. I think the Modern Rims look nicer than Luxury plus I wanted fog lights on a $65k car. I would like to see the Lines go away too moving forward.

+1: as of now the 2015 luxury line amounts to a wheel and leather package. Would be more customer friendly to make nappa an option on all cars and offer a choice of wheels.

And unlike other option packages where you atkeast get a discount over ordering a la carte, I don't think you do with the lines. For example, they typically charge $600 for a +1 wheel upgrade from the factory (when they've offered it) and nappa was a 1k option a la carte in 2013. So you spend an extra 400 for what? Some chrome and "exclusive stitching?". They know it's a ripoff so they purposely lock up some desirable options (can't get paddles without ordering a line, can only get nappa with a line) to try and get people to buy it.

If they think the term "luxury" helps sell cars maybe they shoukd just add nappa to the premium package and rebrand it the "luxury package". Personally I think the word has negative connotations (I think of cheesy 70s land yachts with plush velour interiors and fake wood)

The lines have been annoying and silly since they were introduced on the f30

I don't see the sports steering wheel there, only M-sport.
In any case $1K for the steering wheel + maybe 1K for different airbag + installation = no way
I should have taken the original $600 option when ordering the build - I just had no idea BMW can screw so badly on the standard steering wheel. In pictures you cannot see how bad it is.
It seems they finally figured that out - but too late for me

The accessory M performance wheel is a bit different. If you ordered the regular sport wheel from a dealer parts dept or eBay it would probably be around 500. But the airbag is still going to be expensive

I was told that the 2015 5-series order guides and pricing have been rescinded --- that they had been released in error. They are supposed to be re-released in a week or so. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone ordered a 5-series --- and had the order accepted by BMW --- based on the rescinded ("effective May 19, 2014") guides/pricing?

The 2015 order guides have been released on May 22 and not May 19. I have placed an order already (check on my thread on that) but the order has not been accepted yet....expected to be accepted in beginning of June.

Blind Spot Warning?

Where is the regular (non-active) blind spot warning system? I see the active system listed as part of the Driver Assistance Plus package, but I don't see a passive system either as standard or as an option. Is there no passive system?

The only passive system would be a special mirror with a convex curve. The euro mirrors have this built in them. The US versions do not.
