A valuable lesson was reinforced for me twice today. My Chevy Silverado was rear ended in a parking lot and the person who did the deed was nice enough to fess up. I got a check for the repair (not enough to really get a shop to do it, but a nice check.
So, I do some research on Ebay and find a recommended aftermarket bumper with good feedback. I buy it only to find out after getting it that it's actually a cheap piece of junk where the pad has a 1/2" gap between it and the bumper instead of sitting flush like it does on the OEM bumper.
The same day that I ordered the bumper, I ordered an aftermarket gloss black grill from EBay. Item listed as "in United States". When it ships, it ships from New Taipei, Taiwan but gets here in four days. Good enough. Unfortunately, it's a chintzy piece of junk that rattles around loosely rather than fitting snugly in the car.
So, I learned twice in one day that I'm better off paying extra to get the genuine part instead of some cheap a$$ knockoff that I have to send back because I don't want to taint my vehicles with them.
