Could wheel spacers cause ABS fault?

Keep getting random ABS, DTC, Start Assist lights.

Only thing that recently changed was some 15mm wheel spacer in the rear.

Lights come and go randomly.

I have read a few posts about checking the speed sensors but wanted to know if anyone else had any similar issues with wheel spacers.

Would an alignment or reset fix the issue?

Thanks

Yes. The wheel speed sensors are common failures on Mini Coopers. The wiring fails and shorts itself. It's common for intermittent faults. Not sure what the mode of failure is on these cars but they system is more or less the same for Mini/BMW.

If you scan the car, it will tell you which sensor is acting up. (You need a BMW specific scanner, generic won't work) You can use an O-scope to test the sensor. If it's NOT giving a square wave, the sensor is bad.

Your alignment would have to be really far out to throw these lights.
