Car in body shop, this is all the rental place had!!!!!

My sons car is in the body shop so he's driving my bmw. My insurance pays for rental so I go in today and the only car they had left was a Mercedes C300.
I say ah what the heck, never driven one so why not for $6 a day out of my pocket try it out and compare!
We'll after about 40 miles of driving I now fully understand why we have "Ultimate Driving Machines". This car is slow slow slow! Stereo sucks. Handles ok and is comfortable but it's NO BMW. My son is loving driving the BMW and after one day I miss it already. I've had volvos and now driven a Mercedes and can tell anyone BMW had it all around all over them!!!!!

LOL.. OK.. My wife just told me a story of guy who works with her who got a Mercedes loaner today for a few bucks per day. The story was so close to what I read here it was uncanny!

Beat the Benz like it owes you money... then pray Jake isn't doing the same to your baby!

I just turned in a Chrysler 200 as mine has been in the shop for 5 weeks. BMW of Vegas just hooked me up. The 200 has a really good A/C, handy as we are at 107 today. Other than that it's a really *meh* kinda car. Pics of the loaner. Gonna post an update on a thread I started some weeks ago. No turbo but its loaded w/5500 miles. I should have my car back first week of July.

Count your blessings. You haven't experienced anything until you've had to drive a Chevy Aveo for a week or two (now discontinued thank goodness):

Have you driven one or are you just trying to dredge up old ghosts from the past?

Yeah don't get me wrong it's a nice car. Body wise and looks but it's absolutely no bmw. Mind u it's a v6 no turbo so I'm comparing it to my 335xi which is a rocket next to this. I caught my wife though enjoying driving it yesterday, the Mercedes that is.

I'm hooked now on bmw going forward. It's an addiction!!!!!

its your insurance company's or the other persons insurance company's obligation to put you into an equal car for rental car as the one you drive, now seems everyone thinks there is no better car than a BMW but I would say the Merc is an equal car, the rest of you got taken by the insurance company, you should have called them and not accepted the lower end rentals, they would up grade you, but that is their motive to get you to accept the cheapest car they can put you in

Your fault you drove crap rentals not theirs

I just recently spent three weeks in a rental car up in Kansas City and I had a black Ford Fusion for my rental car. One morning I came out of the hotel and there were no less than 4 of them in the parking lot, all in the same color. I had to push the button on the remote just to find out which one was mine, so not only was I in a much lesser car to my DD but was also in some generic thing that looks like every other car on the road.
