2007 328i Tire Size

Hey guys new to the forums and BMW ownership in general. Time to replace tires and I noticed I have 255-40-17 in the front and 255-45-17 in the back. Those numbers mean little to nothing to me but I know that 45s are around .5 inches taller then the 40s. I would prefer that all tires are the same size to allow me to rotate them correctly, is there an issue with using the 45s or the 40s all the way around and if not which is the better choice. Thanks for the advice.

Please check your tire sizes again. Perhaps you have 225/45R17 in front and 255/40R17 in the rear? At least that's what BMW intended for '07 328s. In addition, your front wheels are 8.0" width and the rears are 8.5" width, so what did you have in mind for rotation?

Actually, I'm 99% certain that the standard setup for the 2007 328's is 225/45R17.... Base and Sport model for the 328xi at least... I've replaced mine 3 times, and that's been the setup each and every time.

Check your owners manual or hit-up www.tirerack.com for more info.

I have a 2007 328i with sport package and mine takes:
225/40-18 Front
255/35-18 Rear

That's what came on it (bought used) and that's what tirerack says should be on it.

You need to understand tire sizes to know what you're doing. Please read and understand this: http://www.justtires.com/content/con...eName=TireSize

The tires are only one part of the system. The width and offset of the wheels may be different between the front and back. Hopefully someone here can comment about whether that's the case on your car. Putting the wrong width tire on a wheel can also create problems.
