08 335i yellow gear, 5th gear only, 4f84-82-81

Hey everyone, happy Father's Day. First time posting. I have an 08 335i with 80k. About a month ago was driving and as I was coming to a stop at a red light, transmission hard downshifted what felt like going into neutral. Yellow gear with explanation point light came on. When to take off from light and car would only drive in 5th gear so it would take off like I was riding the clutch in an automatic. When I shut car off and restarted it would be fine for a little while then happened again. Took it to personal mechanic that works for Mercedes and he got codes 4f84 4f82 4f81.. He said needs new tranny. I've been reading different forums and googling these like issues and malfunctions and I'm getting different opinions, most which is pointing to mechatornics sleeve or valve. Please PLEASE can someone give me thoughts or answers? Thanks in advance

The codes you posted (I google searched them) seem to have to do with the clutch. If it's an automatic i am guessing it has a DCT (dual clutch transmission). Not sure if the clutch is replaceable in these. I would look to see if it is a replacement part and if so, start with that before replacing the whole transmission.
Contact a reputable transmission shop that has dealt with German cars, specifically BMWs. May be able to save some money.
