Any history with you car?????? Massive issues with the 2009/2010 units, with multiple recalls, software, parts, etc... Confirm that all the prior SIBs/updates were completed.

Based on a first pass, you might have a broken wire, loose connector at some point on that circuit. Get a schematic and find the connecotrs/cables and check each one. If those are good you might have a bad DEF tank control? Just guessing on that as I dont have schematics here...

ALSO- I assume you have searched here and elsewhere for P0262..yes?

While I like to know as it seems you do to know what the possible or actual problem is before it's serviced but an 2013 with that mileage is under warranty right?? Being that it is, hell I wouldn't really care as long as it fixed and fixed right.

^^ Good call.Sounds like the light came on at 4200 and he drove it to 8000. At 8k and a 2013 it is surely under US/BMW warranty.

Unless...the car is out of the country and his "Nevada" is a very, very far south "Nevada"....

i would suggest you to use bmw rheingold or inpa or DIS to diagnose BMW vehicles to get proper info regarding fault code. Are you using generic scanner?
