Tire width.

I have the stock tire sizes on 2006 330i e90 255/35/r18 rear and 225/40r/18 my fronts are 8 inches wide and my rears are 8.5 wide could I but 18x8.5 wheels for the front and my current tire fit them?

You will be fine. They might poke out a very tiny bit but they will fit easily.
I run 9 on 235 and 9.5 on 265.

I'm new to this forums. just bought a 2011 335i xdrive coupe with sports package last week so it has the same staggered wheels (front 225/40/18 and rear 255/35/18). I need to put new tires on...would I be able to put the 225/40/18 all around? I think it'll fit on the rim but can that mess with the xdrive system? or anything else?
Thanks

No. How do you expect to fit a wider tire on a more narrow wheel?

was told by belle tire that it shows as an acceptable alternate size when they put in the car. I'm probably gonna stick with the same size tires but was just wondering.
thank you

He said he would try to put 225 size all around, which will make the tires a bit narrow for the rear wheels, right? Then, the rear tires would get a bit stretchy - just the way VW'ers love it

This will work fine. The 1/2" width difference will not be a problem. If you look up a tire and then what size wheel will fit, you will see there is a range.

Enjoy your car!
