Front brakes - 2006 325xi

My front brakes are at 2mm vs 3mm, which is the BMW safety standards. It will cost me ~ $816 to replace them with rotors at the dealership. I always get my repairs at the dealership, but within the last 12 mos it seems as though every major part of my 2006 325xi has gone bad and I had to replace. As such, would you recommend Meineke or Midas for my brakes job or am I cutting corners. Thanks for you advise.

Welcome to Bimmerfest. I've moved your question to the E90 3 series forum, you'll get more help in here. How many miles are you at? Your car is 8 years old with probably 100K miles on it. That is about when you get into more maintenance items.

How comfortable are you with working on your car? Look up some DIY's, brakes are extremely easy. If you're not comfortable, I suggest buying parts online and having any shop do it; replacing the brakes is easy and doesn't require any specialized knowledge or equipment; any shop can do it for you. The only thing you can cut corners on is cheap parts, which is why I suggest buying your own, online.

I don't recommend either Meineke or Midas. Find an independent shop that knows BMW vehicles and have your work done there, not the dealer. You no longer have any reason to pay dealer prices for any mechanical work or maintenance unless it's a very specialized procedure involving test equipment that's only available at the dealer.

As noted above, brakes and rotors are very easy to do, and there's plenty of info on the web about how to DIY.
