Angel Eyes

Just recently purchased a 2010 Black E92 M3. Anyone have suggestion for modifiying angel eyes (i.e bulbs, installs). Looking for a bright white color.

Thanks

Before you buy a set of angel eyes, ask your vendor if their angel eyes will stand up to this (Umnitza Orion V4 E60 Install):

The absolute BEST angel eyes option would be a OSS Designs retrofit. Next best option would be the LUX H8 V4 bulbs. The LUX H8 V4 is not perfect but the selectable color from 5000K to 12,000K is very nice to have. The problem that i have though is that half the LEDs are 5000K and the other half of the LEDs are 12,000K. Because of this, the color is not completely even throughout the entire Angel Eyes. Yes it's a design flaw but they're super bright and probably the best cheap option.

OSS works with Umnitza's Orion V2 and V4 products.
So yes, the best option is the Orion LED based products.
As far as plug and play, the ICE VXX and DTEC are great.

Lux H8 V4 are nice. Check to see of they fit your model. I have them on my 2011 E70 X5

The only ones that make your car's angel eyes look that bright are the Orion V2 or V4.
That requires baking the headlights open. here are recent customers that have done this mod:

How much are your retrofits, Umnitza? And I noticed OSS has F30 style squared off Angel Eyes. Do you have these available?

And do you have core headlights available for a E90 M3? I can't go without a car for long periods of time.

OSS is using our Orion V2 and V4 as the bases for those square rings. We expect to have them ready by end of August. There are a lot of measurements and mounting issues that we need to get organized.
In the meantime, we can flip around your angel eyes install in under 4 hours, we don't do core exchanges. Given the location of HI, you can ship to us via 2-3 day service, we can turn it around same day and get it back to you within 2-3 day service.

A week without headlights is completely unfeasible for me and probably most customers. You should really consider having some cores and maybe even do a headlight reconditioning service for more revenue.

How difficult is it for a first timer to install these?

I have good experience with Umnitza.
Multiple replacements under warranty 6 years ago for e46 m3.
It wasn't their fault, bulb technology and ballasts were not as good as they are today.

OP first you need to decide on your budget.
If you do not have a budget the best kit is the Orion V4 ( its 300+$) you also need to remove the bumper open the headlights and install the angel eyes.
It is not an easy process and it is not recommended that you take it to your regular mechanic. You should send it to someone who has experience what that kind of stuff.
So if you do not plan on doing it yourself expect 200-250$ in labor.
If you do not mind paying that much then you should go with the V4.
If budget is an issue, look into the plug and play solutions.

the brightest plug and play drop in kit currently is the DTEC 90W unit (don't be fooled by people claiming 100+ wattage, it doesn't exist, it's all the same kit).

The next level for reliability is our ICE VXX unit which is also a drop in.

Give us a buzz, we have options for every budget and have been an angel eyes pioneer for over 12 years.

Umnitza not doubting your knowledge about LED and as i said above you guys have the brightest one the orion V4.
But can you please explain how you got to the conclusion about the plug and play ones?
What kind of LED do they use? how many LED? Wattage?Lumens?temperature?

We've been installing the cheap retro from various companies in China for many years, it's not about "lumen" or "wattage" it's about a lot of different factors.
If you want more information, give us a call on Monday, we can discuss.

I know that lumens and wattage does not tell the whole story but that was not my question.
U Said that ur plug and play are the best so I'm asking for technical details to prove ur claim .
For example we use 4 xml Cree led 10 watt each on each side.
We have tried more than 20 kits and upped the wattage to 120 and the best result was the 4 led xml.

Is anyone who have the H8 V4 installed experiencing any flickering or additional issues? My V1 angle eye went out today and I'm looking to upgrade for around $250.

What is an H8 V4?
If you're referring to an Orion V4 kit:

That is what you can expect.
