Just got an HTC Trinity to replace my TyTn and Treo 750v....Happy to report that with no additional software that all my contacts (not SIM contacts) sync'd with the car. With the jetware mobile software, I get signal strength as well. No random disconnects as of yet.

I just got a Cingular 8525 (WM5) and it pairs fine. Downloads your contact list. Shows the connection, but not signal strength.

Problem with Address book via bluetooth and Blackberry 7130e on new BMW 530xi
I just discovered something very interesting that I thought I would share with the group.
I just got a 2007 530xi (Audi convert... first BMW and I love it!) My Verizon BB 7130e was working fine with the car, except my address book was only partially loading. I called BMW and they said the limit for the number of entries for the car was 1,500. I know I was not even close to that, so I was a bit puzzled. Also, my BB had the current and support version of the software. I looked at the contact in my BB that was directly after the last contact that the car loaded. Interestingly, it was a e-mail group distribution list I created on my BB (not in Outlook). I renamed the list by putting a ZZ in front of it, so it would go to the end of my address book. I then got back into the car and the change worked! All the addresses got loaded. It looks like the BMW software go confused with a group distribution list and stopped. I hope this helps others out there. Thanks, Jeff |

Treo 700 also Bluetooth-compatible
Didn't see it on any lists but I can tell you that the Treo 700w is Bluetooth-compatible with my 530i.

Phone model: Treo 700p from Bell
Car model: '05 530i [y ] ability to make/receive calls [y] phone book automatically synches to car (speed dial only) [n] dial by name (without verbal training of system) [n] calling name display (using adddress book) [y] ability to send/receive SMS I justed traded up from a Treo 650 which did all of the above. I became quite used to dialing from the name display. Now, although the name display appears, when I press "Call" I receive the message "no active calls" and nothing but dead air. I'd love to get this feature back. Any body have a similar experience? Thanks, Freezing in Vancouver. |

I have a 2005 BMW X3 with Ulf and have not had success with my new Cingular 8525, even tried jetwaremobile.com for BT extensions. Anyone know if BMW has bluetooth software upgrade? Why are newer BMW models having more success with the 8525? If not I'm thinking of returning it for a Samsung Blackjack...anyone know if that would pair with my 05' X3?

Blackjack is much worse than 8525. Try updating the firmware by going through www.xda-developers.com. You can upgrade to the HTC 35 build firmware it shoud correct problems. I have an 8525 and, aside from the earpiece volume, it works great using generic HTC firmware. No disconnects. Sends phonebook over automatically.

Just got a 2007 530i and tried my phones with it
Nokia N70: Pairs, but cannot make/receive calls, no contact list. Sony Ericsson P910i: Pairs, can make/receive calls, but no contact list. I want to get a Sony Ericsson P990i, but don't want to be a guinea pig. Anyone have luck using a P990i with 2007 5 series (prem, w/no navi)? |

Blackberry Pearl 8100 success!!
I just picked up the new Cingular Pearl 8100 today and paired it up with my '05 525i. I'm proud to say that everything works including the signal strength indicator, address book transfer (Outlook contacts and SIM contacts), and the phone pairs with the car instantly when I turn on the car. From what I've gathered so far, sound quality is better than my old v3 razr through Cingular (according to the callers on the other end).
All in all, I'm very pleased with this phone. I had several issues with my old Treo 650 (Palm) and my Samsung Blackjack (Windows) and so far no problems with the Pearl. |

Just picked up my 530Xi yesterday with Steptronic, CWP, Premium Package, Sport Package and Sirius Radio. Black Sapphire Metallic with Black interior. My Cingular BlackBerry 7130c pairs up perfectly. All of the contacts are there and the steering wheel buttons work great. More than I could have ever asked for. The car is simply amazing!
