I have a new 2007 530i with Verizon Wireless.

1. Has anyone tried either the Samsung A930 or the LG 8300?
2. Can either of them be powered in the glovebox through the flashlight connector, and if so, how?

Thank you,
Robert

Wink Blue Tooth Phones

I just purchased a 328XI '07 and ran into the same qagmire regarding using an existing blue tooth phone. I own a Sony Erikson W600i and although it's not on the list of offcially sanctioned phones, it works must fine and no conflicts with the BMW system.

Has anyone tried connect by BT with an HP6900 (T-Mobile)? Has it worked well or poorly? Will the names appear or not? Thanks.

treo issues

To those that recently mentioned treo issues: remove the battery and put it back in. It seems every 4-7 days the interface will stumble- won't call, won't load the phone, etc. My experience has been removing the battery for 2 seconds resets the treo (I had a 650 sprint and now the 700p verizon for 3+ months) and will automatically pair with the car (no need to manually activate phone). Why does this work- I have no clue.

The Q is basically a Razr phone with some goodies in it, so it works just as good as any other Razrs.

Sprint Samsung M500

To add the obvious to more of the obvious, I purchased a Samsung M500 from Sprint today, entered all of my contacts and was able to send all to the I-drive address book through Bluetooth transfer.

Unlike the Treo 650 I just downsized from, the M500 uploads all contacts to the car, not just the speed dial entries. And if you have one contact with multiple numbers the M500 can discern each discreet entry.

The M500 is not on the archaic BMWUSA list of phones, but why stick with convention.

Good luck!

Motorola V3m

Okay, just got one of these from Verizon in hopes that the Bluetooth sound fidelity is better than the LG phone I exchanged. I have two questions for the group:

1. Did someone mention a power adapter that plugs into the flashlight socket in the glovebox? If so, where can I get more information?

2. Aside from using Verizon's overpriced connector cable, is there any means to attach this phone to my computer for downloading music and podcasts?

Thank you.

1) Auxiliary Power Adapter Part Number 82 11 0 004 073 $9.50

2) Not sure what kind of phone you have. Mine uses a normal USB (small connector version) cable or BlueTooth.

And depending on the phone, Verizon can do some pretty asinine things; on My RAZR V3m, they disable compatibility with Motorola Phone Tools (other than phone book/outlook sync), so I had to go onto some Internet forum and download a bunch of diagnostic/repair type tools to hack those features back into the phone - just so I could add my own ringtones and pictures without using their idiotic service. It worked though, so I'm happy with it, but Verizon are complete jack- for screwing with the phones like that.

And if you have a MOTO phone, don't buy the crap Verizon car charger either - get on the WEB and get a Motorola version - that actually fits into the cigarette lighter socket.

Motorola V3xx (Quad-Band GSM/Dual-Band HSDPA) works perfectly. Signal strength, phonebook. No problems in connection quality at all.

heard today from bmw that tcu recall is going into effect lttters were sent out. maybe new tcu will help compatibility issues. also have any of you had a phone not work and then have tcu upgraded and or progman updated to version 24 and has it rectified the problems. i was told that i have most recent by service and they will not update unless necessary or i would have to pay. is this standard?

It's also standard to use capital letters at the beginning of a sentence and to use paragraph breaks.

Which models are effected for Recall? I have 2006 525i w/ CPI 19.x and my Sprint 6700 works like a charm even though not in BMW Recommended phone list.

David I am so sorry I was typing from my internet tablet but then again you live in Westchester so I will forgive and forget. Seriously before miss grammar gets involved did any of you guys get this recall letter or is it something you must just take the care in and see if they can get it to happen. I have had the sos light come on several times as well as having problems with blue tooth and the sos call system no hanging up. I really don't want to waste any more time driving back and forth to service its wasted miles.

You mean programming?

I'm not sure you want to know - it can take hours.

It has to remedy a known problem (per a service bulletin) - or be required in the course of an accessory installation such as the iPod Interface.
