Got rid of my (partially-operative) Samsung, replaced it with a Motolola RAZR...Everything works perfectly.

I have a Blackberry Tour that the dealer paired with my 2010 535xi. Worked perfectly for two weeks.
This weekend it stopped certain functions. Before, the phone transferred all contacts with no problems. I could use voice command, idrive or steering wheel button to make a call. It would work over the speaker/mic system with no worries. Now, I can use voice command to select a contact and when I command it to call, it just doesn't do anything. If I use idrive to make a call and click on a contact, nothing happens. Same with steering wheel button. Additionally, if a call comes in, I can't accept it via idrive or steering wheel. I have to hit accept on the phone. Same with making a call. I hit the call button on the phone and then it switches over to the cars mic/speakers. The dealer said the phone is not compatible. If that is case then why did it work for the first two weeks? They also said i shouldn't use it or I void any warranty. But they are the ones that paired the phone in the first place. My phone stopped working with the car perfectly this weekend after my buddy also paired his iphone with the car. I think it interrupted something in the system. I took his out but my phone still won't work completely. I don't think the service guys really understand the system. Maybe resetting the hard drive? Any thoughts? |

What is so good with all these new-fangled phones when they can't even do the simple bluetooth connection right. I think car communication is more important... but that's just me.

My wife just purchased a 2010 535i last night, and we have been unable to get her Moto W755 (Razr successor) to work properly. According to the BMW compatibility list this is a compatible phone, but it only partially works (barely). It pairs OK, and will call out if the number is dialed directly. But it requires one to manually reconnect when getting into the car, the connection disconnects frequently, the phonebook will not transfer, and one cannot answer a call from the car.

Just get a Blackberry Bold or iPhone 3GS. Get your number transferred and contacts imported along with your email account and it should work perfectly.

While you are correct that getting a phone that works would fix the problem (seems obvious), such advice is like responding to someone who says their 528 won't start and you advise them to go get a 750 instead.

Nokie E72
Only tried making calls, phone paired up on second attempt, first attempt may have been user error. Synch'd with contact list on phone showing all contact phone numbers and street addresses. I was able to make and receive calls, name of contact recognized on monitor. I was also able to NAV to a highlighted address stored in phone - cool. One gripe.... I have a lot of contacts in phone (2500+)... took a while for them to load, and this synch will happen each time starting car While the contacts were loading, however, I was able to dial from the phone and take call through car. Maybe time to edit the list.
Very slick..... 2010 535i X touring. I recently upgrade phones from Nokia E71 to E72 - major upgrade in speed and feel. For use first as a phone and secondarily for personal e-mail, I recommend this phone. Sleek and slim. I prefer to carry a Blackberry for work e-mail, as I can also choose NOT to carry it when not working and still have phone and personal e-mail connectivity. |

New to the Forum having Bluetooth Issues
I have a 2008 535 and I've been having problems with Bluetooth. My wife's LG Rumor 2 (cheap free phone from Sprint) works perfectly. I went out and upgraded to a Samsumg Moment and it worked like a charm....initially. Inexplicably the phone did not reconnect after I powered it all the way down. I didn't have to re-pair but I couldn't reconnect. I took it into Sprint and they informed me that the Moment was not a BMW approved phone, but the HTC hero was. Again initially the HTC worked like a charm but now it is doing the same thing, it is paired but sometimes won't connect. Anyone else had this issue?

Nokie E72 in 2010 535i X Touring
Not sure if anyone has posted on this phone.... This phone - puchased unlocked, using AT&T for service, works like a charm in the car. Set up right away almost immediately. I use the phone for business, synch daily with Outlook and it works through the car flawlessly with well over 2500 contacts, many of which have multiple phone numbers. Does take a minute or so for contacts to populate into the car.... a permanent hard drive would be nice. This phone is an upgrade from my prior E71, well worth the upgrade.

Blackberry Tour
Hi guys, new to the forum... new to BMW ownership as well. Will save that for the new member introduction forum though. Anyway, I just picked up a CPO 2007 530xi with nav and my Tour isn't synching very well/at all either. I've searched the boards up and down and it seems like people have had mixed results with the Tour (including in this thread). Dealers iPhone synched seamlessly, but my Tour is acting strange. Address book never loads, the icon on the idrive screen just blinks (antenna icon), I can dial a call from my phone and hear it through the car, but that's about it. Even after I disconnect from the call, the call appears as if it's still "Active" in the car. Only way to end it is to delete the phone from the bluetooth pairing screen. Frustrating!
Seeing as there have been some success stories with the Tour in an 07 5 series, is it more likely the software in the phone itself or in the car that may need updating? Any feedback is appreciated, this forum is a great resource. Thanks! |

2007 5 Series Bluetooth - Android
Quote:
I called BMW Customer Support who told me that there is a bluetooth software upgrade available for 525's built before Sept 2006. Mine was built in June. I called the dealer and am getting run arounds as to its availability. They simply don't know what they are talking about. I am calling BMW customer support again this week. Finally, it is unknown if streaming audio is included in this software update. The BMW site says that software upgrades are available for consumer install via usb sticks, but none are available at this time. (nice). Does anyone have the upgrade or know where I can get it? |

UPDATE: 4/19/2010 -- According to BMW Customer Relations, there is no bluetooth upgrade for the 2007 525 for a Droid. They apologized for the mis information I received from them before. They said that 525's built before Sept 2006 will not be compatible and I should not use the DROID with the car because it could "BREAK" the bluetooth system! hmmmmmmmm....... The said also that they are doing upgrades but couldn't tell me when one would be available for my car. As I explained to BMW --- they sell these features in cars and they get into the game and HAVE to stay in the game to support their customers with necessary upgrades to their technology. They agreed and understandably they can't keep up with the technology. So, I explained to BMW -- I pay over 50k for a car and now I have to go out and buy an aftermarked device so use the features? I should stay with my RAZR old technology to use the features of my car? BMW has to get with it and if they are going to get into the game, they have to continue playing and not leave their customers out in the cold. So I'll wait until either they upgrade their bluetooth systems or have just another reason NOT to by another BMW.

Nokia N95 8gb
I have Nokia N95 8gb and does not work properly with my 07 530 xi.
First it does not show the contacts on address book. Second it disconnects and reconnects automatically (signal bar disappears while doing this) several times while driving , so annoying. ![]() Does any body have this kind of issues, i have no idea whether something wrong with phone or car. I dont have other phone to test with. My phone bluetooth works fine with my handsfree device & with laptop bluetooth.

Brand new HTC HD Mini
I just traded my HTC Touch for a brand new HTC HD Mini. The HTC Touch worked great with the iDrive in my 2009 318D Touring. Both the BT headset and the telephone book worked without any problem.
The surprise was imense when I noticed that my new smartphone didnt work. The headset-function works just fine, but iDrive keeps trying to sync the telephone book, without succes. Not only doesn't the phone book sync, trying to do so, drains my phone's batteries. Does anyone have experice with this phone or other Windows Mobile 6.5 phones? Any workarouds or sollutions? Any suggestions are welcome. |
