Seems to work
Thanks for the tip on keeping the iPhone linked with my BMW. It works if I turn the iPhone completely off; swipe the arrow. Now that I know it is a problem with the iPhone, I will play with it a bit to see if there is any other way to do it as it takes a while to restart. So if I turn off the iPhone and then start the car, I should be able to turn on the iPhone and it will eventually link to the BMW. But that means I will be driving and if it doesn't work then I would have to either link while driving or stop to re-link. Thanks a lot Apple!!!

I have 2010 535i xdrive and want to order iphone4S. Nervous b ecause my droid incredible does not work any longer with my car. Anyone with any thoughts? Is the BMW that fickle that I should worry?

An interesting note is that due to come bug in the iPhone 4, I did a clean boot and restore of the iPhone. Now I have no problems with the Bluetooth link to the BMW 528. Somewhere in the iPhone 4 was something that was causing the problem. At least for a week no difficulties, in fact I was at the dealer getting a brake light malfunction fixed and was talking on the iPhone 4 when they brought the car around. It automatically switched to the car when it got near and I had to get in quick so that I could continue the conversation. Outstanding results. But restoring the apps from the backup file took a long time so if you go that way, have some time on your hands.

My Blackberry 9700 worked but wouldn't sync. Then I had a Blackberry storm 2. Did not work at all....now my T-Mobile LG G2X, works perfectly. Bluetooth syncs up and phone book loads and all calling features work wonderful. I miss Blackberry, but I love how fast my phone is and androids are kool. IPhones are really nice but never owned one. So yeah g2x works perfect! I'm in a 2005 525i.
Sent from my G2X using Bimmer app. |

No problems with Motorola Bionic
Just bought a Bionic which synchronized and did all that my earlier ERIS did - unlike an Incredible 2 which would nto load the address book.
It is running Gingerbread. |

Is HTC Bluetooth implementation generally suspect?
This post is interesting because it parallels my inability to load the contact list of the HTC Incredible 2 running Gingerbread (Android 2.3 I think). HTC support claimed that this was an Android problem - but this is clearly not true as I was able to synch and load a Motorola Droid X2 and my the MT Bionic. Many web comments suggest that HTC does not have full BT stacks - I excluded HTC phones thus when I got my latest..................
But this is just a hypothesis - what else do people think? My HTC Eris worked fine with my 2007 530xiT 6MT - but the Eris is 2 years old and running a much older Android version, 1.6. My suggestion is to get the cell phone store to allow you to take a phone out to your car and try it first right there to avoid frustration. |

I just tried to setup my iPhone 4s and it doesn't work. I have an 07 335i, where my 4 worked but not this one. I did not a difference where in the past it would show the full bluetooth name of the BMW device, but now my iPhone only sees BMW. Anyone else have this problem?

IOS 5 with iPhone 3GS and 4 work fine with our 3 BMWs.
iPhone 4S should be the same, I would hope!

Siri with 2010 528ix
I have the ipod/iphone "dongle" in the center console on my 2010 528i - a factory installed option). I plugged in the iphone 4s and it played pandora radio, and Siri worked (so long as I initiated by pushing the home button) to dictate and send email and make phone calls using the car speakers and mic. Very cool. What's more, it charges the iphone while I'm driving (so I don't have to pay the Apple store for a car charger - year)!
but I don't think I have the latest 2011 App that BMW created - is that just software that I could get installed? I have never figured out how to do phone calls from the BMW that require, after initial connection, sending additional numbers and codes (e.g. to operate voicemail by deleting and forwarding messages to other extensions, etc.) in hands free mode. If anyone has figured that out, let me know! Maybe Siri will provide a workaround. |

iPhone 4 s and blue tooth problems.
I have a 2010. 528 I. Just got the IPhone4s and it does not pair reliably. By that I mean that half of my outgoing calls leave the person answering the call unable to hear my voice. My 8 year old motorola razor worked perfectly. Bmw says maybe I need a software update but I doubt it.If you read the apple support website (discussions.apple.com/thread/2498329?start=15&tstart=0) you will see how iPhone owners are complaining about poor iPhone blue tooth connectivity, especially on the 4s

It'll pair but like my EVO you'll probably only have limited capabilities. No phone calls thru voice command and phone book won't transfer over. Something about the gingerbread operating system and the HTC coding for the Bluetooth. I haven't been able to do anything other than answer calls with the phone button. Sucks because I love HTC but looks like I'm getting a Samsung.
