Hi there - Did you get your Samsung Galaxy Nexus to pair with your car? I got the same phone a few weeks ago and it won't pair with my 2006 325i sedan.

Moto Slvr L7 to BMW
Quote:
Now, I just trying to learn how to transition a call from the car back to the phone, once I've arrived at my destination. (My old '08 Avalon made the transition automatically after about 10 seconds, but the BMW doesn't seem inclined to do that.) No obvious choices appear on the phone screen - only Mute. Someone in another forum suggested (on a different cell phone) hitting the "context" button to see some choices. Perhaps that may be equivalent to the center "menu" button on the L7. I'll have to try that the next time I need to transition a call back to the phone. Otherwise, everything's great with the pairing. Good Luck, bawaki |

For anyone out there, was wondering if it is the phone, will Android updates address bluetooth incompatibilities like this? Is this consistent with how a phone can be incompatible? Or if it pairs, it should work 100%?

ive been trying to kinda of scientifically and mathematically figure out the equation causing this to happen with android phones its a widely know issue but none of the info out on it seems to be absolutely the reason why, or the solution its like every case is different.
I have a 2004 530i and have tried 3 different android phones Htc evo 3d (my main phone) running android 2.3.4 software 2.08.651.2, kernal 2.6.35.13g84f8edd, htc evo 4g (my old phone), Samsung Galaxy S2 (my cousins phone) Pairing - works Car controls phone(steering wheel button ect) - works Voice dialing numbers - works Voice dialing names - doesn't work Syncing address book with car - doesn't work here is what I have gathered so far suggestions on what try - unpair all phones, forget device on phone, reset ccc, reset phone and retry..... My experience = FAIL - download bluetooth file transfer from marketplace save contacts to sd card when phone pairs to car transfer vsf file (contacts file on sd) to the car and address book should start to sync with car my experience......FAIL - declutter and re organize contacts list removes fb and all other social media ties use only first names or only last names or both remove all 1's in the beginning of numbers (basically make it 10 digits) my experience ........FAIL( I tried all varients of this fix deleted my entire contact list to just one contact and played around with it but that didn't work for me -pay attention on your phone as soon as you pair for a messages asking for permission to send contacts to the car supposedly it goes away quick and if you miss it you lost your shot. my experience.........FAIL ( I never got no prompt asking for permission) -perform a full software update on ccc to bring bt up to date with the tech in the phone??? I have no idea I refuse to pay 300 bucks to do a software update to get bt working and from the research ive done. there is no guarantee contacts will even sync after you spend all that money. Now Ive read a lot of people have had success getting contacts to sync after rooting there andriod phone and flashing over to cyanogen 7.1 rom I'm trying to understand why people are have success what is different about this custom firmware vs stock firmware. I personally refuse to switch over to custom fw because Ive done it in the past and even though all the nice new features might be great they are always buggy and end up causing your phones ultimate demise in the end. also I read cyanogen for my phone doesn't even support 4g which I use heavy and stereo bt, which I also use a lot. I think the cooks of the cf have changed the kernel I think either the kernel or baseband has something to do with how the wireless radios on the phone work, of those radios I think bluetooth might be one of them so I figure since i don't want to change to a custom firmware on my phone maybe i can just change the kernel and get my contacts to sync with my car. Anyone one the same page as me or knows even more about the andriod phones and how they work please chime in, if we all put our heads together a solution should be found... |

I also forgot to add something else i noticed, inadvertently I stumbled onto something that I think may be the key to solving this contacts thing. Sorry in advance but its kinda long to explain.
So I was trying to code something onto my car using ncs expert and accidentally reset all my coding settings back to default. my car didn't originally come with bt so in doing so i removed the ability to enable bt. when i realized what happened i went back to code everything back on to the car. afterwards I went to pair up the phone with the car and every time I would get as far as putting the 0000 password in both my phone and car but it would never pair up. I noticed in the bluetooth settings area of my phone it would show bmw63823 or whatever and when i click on it it would say paired but not connected. the key thing I noticed was that the icon in the scan for devices screen next to bmw63823 was a picture of a cell phone..... at the time it looked strange to me but nothing clicked in my head. Any way I wasn't able to pair my phone with the car anymore because of my coding blunders it just kept getting stuck at the verifying passkey screen and then failing to pair. after some council from simon, I went back into ncs and examined all parameters and modules having to do with activating bt. When I went into the tcum module there was a parameter called portable bluetooth and it was set to not active, I tried to set it to activ and recode the car and voila my phone paired up again....BUT I noticed this time in the bt settings of my phone where it says scan for devices it shows bmw63823 and the icon was a picture of a headset. So whatever that parameter did was change my phone from being recognized as another cell to an earpiece. Now why didn't the car pair up when it thought it was communicating with another cell I dunno?? Can't really speculate but what I take away from it is maybe in order to transfer contacts to the address book maybe the phone has to recognize the car as a type of device that it would need to transfer contacts to and typically one wouldn't need to transfer contacts to a headset. So my question to all of you who have gotten an android phone to properly pair up and transfer contacts... What kind of icon is next to the name of your bmw in the scan for devices screen? maybe if its not a headset that could tell us why our cars wont take the phone books? |

Well my Galaxy S II does not have a custom firmware, rom etc.
But it IS rooted and flashed with an OEM build. (Although not from the same carrier, that's the benefit of owning a general version of a phone instead of carrier specific) Basically the phone is rooted and flashed with an OEM build of android. (ICS 4.0.3 XWLP7) |

Hoping for some help.
I have a Galaxy S2 which I have just updated with the 'ice cream sandwich' software. It appears since this update I have not been able to connect to my BMW X1's bluetooth. My partners Blackberry connects with no problem and my S2 did prior to the software update. Is my S2 no longer compatible since installing ice cream sandwich? Is anyone else having the same problem? Can anyone offer any help? Thanks |
