Phone model: Samsung Galaxy S II with ICS update (GT-I9100m from Bell Canada) rooted and unlocked
Car model: 2008 535i [x] ability to make/receive calls [?] phone book automatically synches to car - yes, but resynches every time, never 'remembers' from session to session [ ] dial by name (without verbal training of system) - no, 'your phonebook is empty' [x] calling name display (using adddress book) I also bought the Blackberry Music Gateway to stream music from my phone via the AUX input - didn't work. Seems to pair just fine, but the BB device is not offering up any output. |

Can anyone help me with steps to pair my Sprint HTC EVO (4G LTE) with my 2008 5281? Got the phone yesterday but having difficulty pairing. I get a failure message after keying in the PIN on both handset and iDrive. Based on other posts, pairing appears to be possible. Thanks.

I am a new owner of a 2008 550i. My cell phone is the Motorola Droid X, which I bought 2 years ago. Anyone have the Droid X with an e60 BMW? How does it work with your car? Or does it?

Hello, I just picked up a 2004 BMW 530i with 112k on the dial. Its does have the iDrive but without the Nav (sucks). I have been looking through the fourms on how I can sync my iphone/ipod/Sprint HTC phone with my iDrive.
Any ideas, or has anyone found a work around? |

What else would you need. Basically that is all you are doning in your car, IMO I would not get caught up in those additional features.

I have Droid X and the phone only features work just fine on my 2005 545. Pairing is fairly straight forward if you go into bluetooth settings and turn on make discoverable and scan for other devices. Then select the BMW bluetooth device to pair with, enter your pin. Then go into Bluetooth setting and turn on bluetooth. You should see your pin prompt on the iDrive screen. Enter the pin and then it should pair with device.

So I managed to kind of get my Nexus working right. I originally could pair with no issue, calls worked fine both receiving and placing, but only a partial contact list synched. I tried sending it via BT but I got the OBEX profile not there error. I ended up exporting my contacts to storage then importing them back to my phone, unpaired, re-paired and voila all contacts are there now. The only problem is that I have double contacts in my phone and on the car. I'm in the process of cleaning that up now. Not sure what will happen if I add new contacts. I guess I will just see what happens as I continue to mess around.

When I first started to use the S3 after pairing, there was a popup message on the phone, something like "BMWxxx has requested to access the address book." There was an OK and a NO button. Plus a check box that said "remember this choice". I checked OK and remember.
It's possible you didn't see that, and it faded away after some preset time. I'm not sure how to get it back, but maybe that's what you need to do. Good luck!

I have a iphone4s. The phone pairs perfectly with our 2007 525xi wagon. The phone pairs with our 2010 550i m sport, but will not recognize my phone book. Recent calls show up. I can use voice commands with Siri. I called BMW customer service and they said it was a module issue with the 2010. They said compatibility is arbitrary where it works in one car and not another with a same model year. How a new phone would pair no problem with a older car and not the newer car is baffling. I would love to get my phone book up in the car, but I think I am out of luck unless I change my phone or my car.. Any one else have this issue or any solutions?

All,
I found a serious work-around for most phones. Here's the steps. 1) Go to Bluetooth > Settings > pair phone (do not start pairing just yet) 2) Set on your Bluetooth selection in your phone and turn the phone off. 3) Turn your phone back on. 4) With the Voice command (in the newer vehicles) follow these steps: >Press voice command and say > Bluetooth (it will repeat the command) >Go down the iDrive menu to >Settings >start pairing > With your phone >go to Bluetooth settings > pair >enter pin code on phone & iDrive 5) It will tell you that pairing is successful but not display phone information >Press Voice command and say >Bluetooth >Go to phone in your iDrive >Go down to your phone in the list and say> A to Z 6) The Voice Command Module will say "Searching for paired phones". If it does not say this then you did something wrong. 7) While searching for the phone it will enable Bluetooth again on its own in about 6 seconds. 8) Now toggle your phone from "MUSIC ONLY >on" to "MUSIC ONLY>off" your phone book will be displayed. Note: if you already have a phone paired but can't see your listings, jump to step "5". I hope this wasn't too long. Once you get use to it it'll go faster. Key Points: >Clear Paired phones >Activate blue tooth in your phone then turn cell phone off >Turn phone back on and use voice commands >Pair phones> use voice commands> say "Bluetooth">go to phone in iDrive> >Go down to phone ID> press voice and say> A to Z >Listen for "Searching for Paired phones" >Toggle from MUSIC ONLY>on to MUSIC ONLY >off after 6 seconds |
