I have an old LG 600G flip phone and it works. It just won't show a number of the lists. Last called is there as well as a couple others but a couple are not showing. Address book being one. Other than that it works fine. I like the $15 a month bill.

I was wondering why I need to use a Bluetooth OBD dongle to connect the BMWhat app to my car. My phone already can connect to my BMW's bluetooth without such an Bluetooth OBD dongle.

Looked for a way to send music from the S4 but it did not show the BMW as an available device.

Using the built-in BT for phone calls and a Kinivio BTC450 Bluetooth dongle to connect for music. Not as smooth as having media and phone connected to same BT source, but it works.

UPDATE: Apparently I wasn't waiting long enough. The phonebook did download and I can see all the names and numbers. I can select them with the iDrive knob and click to call; however, if I try to hands free dial, it tells me the phone book is empty. o.O

Makes/Receives Calls?: Yes

Syncs Phonebook?: Yes

I have not yet checked for other features, but based on the model and year of the vehicle, I do not anticipate SMS or BT Audio compatibility. Either way, very happy with overall functionality. Clean call quality and easy to use system.

I do not text much generally, less yet while driving. So I have not tried out the SMS feature.

Voice recognition is better than expected a lot of times, even with foreign names in their respective (i.e., foreign) pronunciation. Sometimes it fails miserably, though, with names that do not strike me as particularly challenging.

Every now and then, the phone fails to connect to the car or takes very long to establish the bluetooth connection. Many minutes, that is.
