2014 x3 35i vs 2015 x3 x28i

Experts,

I am comparing new 2014 x3 35i with premium, technology and driver assistance package with 2015 x28i with premium, technology, driver assistance package.

Both cars are priced same as I am getting discount of close to $7000 on 2014 35i and close to $2700 on 2014 x28i.

I am confused now. I would love to drive 35i but as BMW made some changes to 2015 X3's, I don't want to drive an outdated model as well.

Let me know what you guys think.

$48,050 + possible color charge is MSRP for the 1 year old 2014 X3 35i. To find out invoice, take .92 of base and .91 of options; add destination fee, MACO ($350 in my State) and Training ($180) and you'll have invoice price. This is important because you should be paying about $1000 under invoice for a 1 year old vehicle with less than 10 miles on it- truly brand new; but a year old model. If it has more miles on it you should be paying less. What the dealer may not be telling you is that they get $2500 from BMW for selling a 2014 X3 now. Your discount from MSRP is actually $5500. Per my calculations they are offering you a car in the $1500-$2000 under invoice range. Not bad if it's brand new vehicle that's a 1 year old model. Have dealer show you sales receipt to verify exact numbers.

2015 X3 is a refreshed model. All LED lighting package now available. Turn signals are on side mirrors instead of side of doors. Navigation system update and Navigation touch wheel. Front/Back look slightly different. Not much else.

$2700 off MSRP for 2015 X3 is way too little. You should be shooting for $1000 to $500 over invoice. Even on a special order brand new refreshed model.

Thanks for reply.

Finally I am getting 2014 x3 35i with premium, technology and driver assistance package at 45 k.

Do you guys this this is good deal or should i go for 2015? I think the driving experience is same between 2014 and 2015 and I need to spend atleast 5 k extra to get same car in 2015 model. 5 k extra for 2015 model cosmetic changes is not making sense to me.

In a year or two your 2015 will be "outdated" as well, and you'll be driving it wishing you had the bang of the 3.5.

I was in your same shoes but my requirements were going to be costly since I wanted M-Sport/DHP/Premium Sound/Navigation/Keyless,Comfort, Moonroof.
I almost got a 2013 X3 28i Red/Beige 1250 miles but only 24 months left of warranty and wasn't CPO for $40k before fees/taxes total was coming out to 42-43k i believe
I skipped that and a month later just bought a 2014 X3 28i White/Oyster 10,996 miles 1 owner but its CPO Elite for 42k out the door after negotiating from 45k and waiting weeks on it.

Why? Because I couldn't justify paying 10-15k more for the 2015 Diesel and buying new has never been important to me

How many miles are on it?

Even a leftover brand new one the price is too high if the invoice is $48,050 + $500 for a color.

Dealer gets $2500 from BMW corporate which means they're trying to sell the car to you for $500- $1000 under invoic if my calculations are correct. This is different than what you said in your initial posting. Not only is the car 1 year old, but a new refreshed model just came out.

My advice is figure out invoice on car, know that $2500 comes from BMW corporate for a year old vehicle and negotiate from there. $2500 + $2000 under invoice would be a fairer price in my opinion.

Minor differences between 2014 and 2015.

MSRP for that car should be around $54000, that would mean invoice including the $2500 from BMW should come out to around $47000. You are paying about $2000 below invoice, thats a pretty good price for a 2014. You will love the N55 engine in this car, its a rocket.

I'd go for the 35i *IF* the price reflects the deprecation hit of buying a "one-year" old car.

The LCI was very minor for the F25.

Did you had any credit for BMW North America for Test driving ? I have $1000 credit for test driving. I have an equivalent offer, but that includes the $1000 credit from BMW also

I have an offer on 2014 BMW X3 28i -MSRP $50275, going to pick up today for $41775 + Taxes + DMV Fees +Doc fees.

Should I push a little ? or just grab it before it's gone ?

There's a $2500 rebate from BMW corporate for purchasing a 2014 now that 2015s are available. Add your $1000 for test driving and that gives you $3500 minus your best deal. Have dealer give you the sales document on the car you want and this will tell you the invoice- use invoice to negotiate. You should be getting at least $1000 under invoice this time of year + the $3500 rebates.

You can also figure out invoice by going to www.edmunds.com

Or .91 of base MSRP, and .92 for all options, add delivery and MACO and Training (I believe $350 + 180 in New Jersey; different in other states).

The $1000 test-driving only goes towards NEW cars =\
How can people get the $2500 rebate?

OP is considering buying NEW 2014, so $1000 test drive applies.

$2500 rebate for leftover 2014 should be deducted by dealer on contract.

Yea guess he should be aware of the $2,500 rebate because most dealers won't even offer it unless buyer mentions it.

My price was excluding $1000 test drive discount. I didn't know that such a discount exist and also didn't have certificate also.

Anyways, did you pickup your car?

In June/July of 2013 and 2014, if you signed up at a local BMW dealer to test drive one of their cars (One Friday or Saturday at my local dealer) they would give you a $1000 rebate if you bought a new BMW (leftover or new year coming in) within a certain period of time. In 2013 BMW allowed for about 4 months for delivery. In 2014 they only allowed for 2 months.

I understand they've done this for many years which means we can probably expect that they'll do it again next year. In 2013 I drove an MB350 and then a 5 Series because BMW corporate wanted a head to head comparision. In 2014 they were promoting the new 4 Series, but one could've driven many other BMWs- No MBs available to compare this year

This was a specific event that one needed to attend to get the $1000 rebate coupon. You could double dip and add the BMWCCA rebate on top of this- I believe it's $500 for the X3. I also believe you can triple dip with the $2500 rebate for buying a leftover 2014 during the promotion.. $4000 in additional savings on your best deal.

Didn't know about BMWCCA Rebate, but anyway that needs 12 month membership before delivery, hence I am not eligible.

My MSRP = $50275.00 =>
(Base MSRP = $39,800) + (Options = $9,550) + (Destination Charge = $925)

My Invoice Price = $45929.00
(Base MSRP = $39,800 * 0.91) + (Options = $9,550 * 0.92) + (Destination Charge = $925)

My Negotiated Price is $41775 which is (Invoice Price - $4154),

As suggested here, $2500 Rebates for 2014 Model, $1000 Rebates for Ultimate Driving, and I am getting around $654 minus Invoice in addition to the Rebates.

Thinking, how to pull another $350 from Dealer. I am still waiting to pickup since I am working with my Credit Union for financing. Any tips for negotiating another $350 from dealer ?

Regarding $1000 Driving Credit from BMW, many dealers are still conducting the driving events even now, please check BMW dealers around, you may find some open slots.

Love this forum, lots of details here..

Thanks

Ask your dealer to include dealer documentation fee in the price. You will save somewhere between $500 - $700. My dealer agreed for this which saved me another $700. Best of Luck.
