Spark plug Q

Do my OEM spark plugs require a special socket for removal? I saw a couple of videos on utube , and they mentioned a STAR shaped socket for the plug removal, the plug had a kind of star shape to it. Definitely not your standard type plug. I did a search for plugs, and everything I found for my model car, looks like a standard socket is all that is needed for installation.

I believe it is a regular metric thin wall socket.

BMW Plug Socket

Here are a couple BMW sparkplug sockets. The one on the right is one I made the first time I encountered the plugs. I took a regular socket and ground it on a bench grinder until it fit into the plug recess. The one on the left is a socket I bought years later.

Yes, but bear in mind the Burger one has a magnet so you don't end up with the plug loose at the bottom of the access 'tunnel'. The plugs are deep inside the head, and if you don't use a magnetic socket you'll need something else to draw it out with...

Got it! Grazie!

Ya know....I notice every socket I have seen, including this one from burger, only mentions the turbocharged models of BMW. I have a non turbo 328i. This will fit, yes?

Just did my 328i plugs. I used a regular deep well socket and a piece I duct tape. Worked fine.
