E92 canadian model traveling to US - check engine light

Hi.
I have a 2009 328i xdrive with aprox. 75k miles on it, still under extended warranty.
I'm traveling from Canada to South Carolina and today, right after a stop in Virginia, the check engine light came on.
It was late so I had to check in to a hotel soon after...now, I'm gonna call a BMW dealer in Richmond (I'm in Fredericksburg, VA right now) in the morning to see if they can at least tell me what the problem is.
My questions are: do you know if the extended warranty from Canada will be honoured in US, in case there's a problem? Also, it's aprox. 50 miles to Richmond, do I take a big risk by driving it there with the light on? I don't see/hear any changes so far to the engine or driving.

Thanks a lot.

Call BMW and ask. I was able to transfer my factory warranty on my car from Canada to the US after I completed the registration in the US. Of course that was a permanent change.

Hi everyone.
just an update and a question at the same time.
I had called BMW Canada and they told me the extended warranty is not valid in US, just the regular one so going to a dealer here was not an immediate option.
I went to an Autozone and the code they got was P0015 Exhaust (B) Camshaft position Timing Over-retarded (bank 1). The guy was nice to clear it for me then.
Now, in Canada the premium we have is 91 and ever since I got into the US I fueled once with 91 and the rest with 93 so I thought it was maybe something related to the different fuel brands, as I read somewhere.
No issues for two weeks and over 1500 miles later but as I'm driving back to Canada I got the SES light again, same code since I stopped at an Autozone again.
My question is: since my car is under warranty in Canada and I have another 1000 miles to get home, is it a big problem if I continue driving it with this code? The car doesn't act different at all, no stalling, no rough start.

Thanks a lot.

Don't believe so, you should be fine. Kind of stupid that BMW Canada doesn't cover warranty in the US and yet so many big name Companies do business with Canada/US together everyday.
Hope you arrive back to our land safe and sound.
