2015 M3 and ED?

First post after reading many here anonymously.

I'm looking hard at a new M3, and am seriously considering pursuing the ED option. However, I just got an email from my local dealer saying "the M3 is not available for European Delivery". This seems like total BS to me - can anyone confirm or deny? If so, what would be their reason for telling me this??

Thanks in advance.

Would they tell me this because it comes out of their allocation, and they would rather sell a loaded up car at full US MSRP?

Complete BS. Find another dealer. Try one of the board sponsors. Many have done ED on the new M3/M4.

Sounds like a good plan. Once you get your new M3 please post a review in our new BMW dealer rater system - http://www.bimmerfest.com/bmw-dealers/

Thanks,

Well to make things more interesting, the dealer has showed me an email exchange with someone in the "BMW Group - Special Sales" (New Jersey) saying there are no ED allocations available for several BMW models, including the M3. This dealer is affiliated with AutoNation - I wonder if that's the problem. Maybe all their dealerships share a limited number of ED allocations?

The M3 and M4 are both listed on bmwusa.com as available vehicles for ED. I would just go into another dealership to put the order in.

There may not be any allocations for that specific dealer. I would find another dealer. They are available...

Again - walk away from these people they are clearly not who you need to be dealing with! Had mine ordered in June this year and picking up via ED in September - total nonsense, use the forum to find another more competent dealership.

OP, I live just south of you and did ED on my 335i five years ago. Skip all the PNW dealerships and shoot an email to Jim Mannheimer at BMW of Salem. He's a Forum Sponsor and made it super easy. Very knowledgable, and trust me when I say you want someone who is an ED pro. It's totally worth the Amtrak ride to Salem to pick it up.

Ditto, ordered my M4 convertible mid-July. Car goes into production first week of September. Original ED delivery date was September 12th and I pushed back to the 23rd to coincide with another trip.

Just got my ED welcoming packet yesterday. Looks as if it is going to be quite an experience...

They mean that the M3/4 and the few other models have to come out of the dealers allocation. If they don't have an allocation available for an M3/4 or one of the other models, then the dealer can't do a ED for that car until they get an allocation or BMW removes it from being dealer allocated.

Since I started this thread, thought I'd give a quick update.

Three of the four dealers I've talked to have stated they don't have allocation for an ED "at this time". The dealerships are Bellevue, Seattle and Salem.

One (Tacoma) is willing to do an ED order now. Although we haven't struck a deal yet, I'm expecting to pay ED MSRP. No one wants to budge on price right now. Shooting for a late Nov/early Dec ED...have the wife convinced a trip to Germany during the holiday season will be a nice little break from reality.

Yup - that's the case here in the SF area too. Dealers don't what to do ED ... it took me some wrangling to get a local dealer to agree to: (1.) give me a vert allocation, (2.) let me do ED, (3.) work at MSRP or below.

So I have a little off topic question ....

I am going to be ordering an F80 and will want to do PCD or regular US dealer delivery...will I run into the same issues as people being told no because of ED or will dealers be able to easily order one since I'm not doing ED?

PCD just comes out of a dealers regular allocation. Therefore if they have an allocation for a F80, you can schedule PCD. Now about discounting, that I'd a different topic. Many people are getting better deals now, and many are also still buying at MSRP ( or, gack, higher).

+1000!

Jim's my boy, too. He's done my last two EDs, and will do my next one next summer. He's the man.

So in turn they would be more willing to sell one to a US delivery customer because they have the potential for more profit even if I manage to get some kind of discount?

Currently all M3s are coming out of dealer allocation whether it is delivery to dealer, PCD, or ED. The dealer will still make the same amount of money (or near as makes no difference) on a car sold at ED MSRP as one sold at US MSRP. This is because the ED invoice price is lower, even if the car is coming out of normal allocations.

I did a 7/1 ED on an F80 and picked it up here in FL on 8/9. Bought my car at $1k under ED MSRP. Deal was negotiated way back in January and order placed on the day the order bank opened. Never was a question of if Euro Delivery pricing would be honored.
