Installing HID Headlights/Foglights

Hello. I just bought a 2014 328i Sedan and was planning to switch the regular (yellow) lights for HID lights as well as the fog lights. I'm new to all of this and trying to learn as much as I can so I can start modding up my car. Does anyone know how to replace the lights? I'm trying to do it myself. Thank you

Switching the headlights to LED would cost a fortune and is probably not even technically possible. Switching to HID/xenons will cost a slightly lower fortune and will be a significant challenge. There is a thread here about making that switch. A much more reasonable choice would be to get a set of high performance halogen headlight bulbs such as Sylvania SilverStar Ultras.

+1

LED headlights are a $1900 option on the 4 series and won't even fit a 3 series. Enjoy your car, but be careful with your mods - if you do anything with the engine it can void your warranty if BMW finds out.

i hope you werent planning on just swapping the halogen bulbs for LED bulbs. because you wont be able to see at night since the bulbs
1) wont emit anywhere near as bright light as the halogen bulbs-- a halogen H7 puts out about 1700 lumens. the true output of one of those drop in replacements @50W will be around 900 lumens or so
2) the light will not be focused by the housing properly. bad enough to drop an HID retrofit kit into halogen headlamps, that at least has a somewhat similar single point of light generation. the multi led bulbs are going to have no beam focus.

Sorry, I mistakingly typed LED. I meant HID. Does anyone happen to know how to switch them out? Both the bulbs for the headlights and fog lights to HID bulbs?

HID bulbs in halogen housings are almost as bad. tons of glare and has more place on a 90's civic.

go for high end halogen replacements or do a full housing retrofit. dont just drop in hid bulbs.
