Hairline crack on rim repairable?

My dealer said I have a hairline crack on one of my rims which loses about 2psi each day. Is this repairable? My dealer only recommends to replace them with a new or used one. Any thoughts or experience with repairing cracked rims? Thanks.

Replace the wheel.

From experience, I would never try and repair a cracked wheel. Twice I've had wheels "fixed", only to have them crack again. I'll never be completely confident in such a vital part of vehicle dynamics and overall safety just being "patched". I couldn't help but constantly wonder "what if...", but that's just my two cents.

If you have it sent to a company that will weld the crack you will probably be ok, but don't trust it to bondo

What you want is Aircraft Grade Aluminum Tig Welding.

you are risking a $100k car for a $250 rim- I don't think that makes much sense. buy the new rim

I don't know where you purchase your rims, mine are almost $1,000 each. We throw aways far to many fixable parts in this country... But That's Just Me.

I managed to get a spare set of rims on the internet. $250 ea.
But even at $1k, it is $1k vs $100k

I took my car there just a few weeks ago for 2 bent rims. Problem solved. They will repair cracked rims as well. This place has been written up in Car and Driver and Road and Track.

Sorry, realized you were in Canada. Shipping here to be repaired may be too expensive.

Thanks for all the replies. At this point, I am planning to trade my car in for a newer model by the end of this year so I'll probably do the repair option and hope for the best.
