Warranties No Longer Transerable

Just read on Autoblog, 2015 and later models sold after July 2014. Warranties no longer transferable to 2nd owners.

How many of us would not have bought our cars if the warranty didn't transfer?

This hit the news about a month ago.

The next revenue opportunity shoe to drop = dealers will start pushing "old school" service intervals! and service contracts. IMHO this removes another differentiator ... making BMWs no different than the other mass transportation tools out there!

This isn't warranties, this is only the maintenance plan that is not transfered. It's very disappointing to hear that BMW has become so greedy as to not include a couple of oil changes and maybe a brake service.

Even BMW can't afford to pay maintenance for BMW's...
does make me wonder if the old school maintenance schedules will now all of a sudden return...

Free maintenance is a marketing gimmick anyway.

So, if I buy my leased BMW at the end of the lease term, am I considered a 2nd owner? Technically, BMWUSA is the first owner.

EDIT: Found this so i would be covered:

The sole exception to the non-transferability of BMW Maintenance Program coverage is that household transfers - transfers within the United States (including Puerto Rico) to members of the household of the initial purchaser, owner, or lessee of a BMW vehicle from an authorized BMW center - will not terminate BMW Maintenance Program coverage.

So....Joe Lunchbucket can't make his payments....his six month old ride repossessed in dead of night!

Current model year, lightly pre-owned. No warranty?

Edit: OK! Maintenance plan. Isn't that a major selling point? Smellin' a bargain for savvy buyers.

No, just no free maintenance. Joe Lunchbucket can rest easy knowing he has the full BMW NA new car warranty.
