Evaporator

Hi all - new here and need some advice. I have a 2008 328i coupe with 66,000 miles bought it as a CPO three years ago. Took it to the shop as the drivers side a/c wasn't cooling. Tell me I need a new evaporator $2400 ( charged it with freon and it's still working two weeks later- thank God) plus front brakes $590! I'm dying! I LOVE my car but thinking about trading it! Still making payments! Do the estimates sound right to you? He claims this is a common problem with Beemers! Really??? Thank you for your advice!!

It is not an uncommon problem. Many threads on here related to the evaporator issue. Do a search and you'll be reading until the early morning. I only have 32K on my car and have had the evaporator replaced twice. Both under warranty. It is quite a labor intensive job requiring complete removal of the dash.
