Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!

Happy 5th Birthday to my E93.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the day I took possession of my sweet little E93.

A photo of the brand new acquisition:

And the most recent photos of it taken two months ago on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Tail of the Dragon:

Five years have past, but the love affair continues with this car. Yes, it's not the fastest in its class, but it's fast enough, and as it has broken in and we have bonded, there is a certain familiarity and intimacy in knowing exactly how it will respond in any given situation. I still keep it as pristinely clean as when it was brand new and still fret over every insult real or imagined. On the clock, currently just under 40,500.

So Cheers to my E93's Birthday

ps: A shout out and credits to 129slayer.com and Killboyz.com for the great photos of the E93 on The Tail of the Dragon in spite of the 30 minute torrential downpour!!

Yay! Hasn't aged a day! I've had mine for just a little more than 5 years here, time sure does fly, and I still enjoy the heck out of it too.

A little Nordic Kat related anecdote. I was reminded of it by her registration plate. Kat and her SO, Top Kat, stopped at my shop on their way to C2C6. Seems the car had developed a tire related vibration somewhere in Vermont. Short story is that a rebalance had them back on the road in no time. After they left one of my techs asked me "Your friends are teachers?" I said no, why? He replied "Well it said TCHUS on the plate!" Took me a minute to stop laughing.

I'm so glad you've held onto her, Kat. This E9x series is one of the best there has been in a long time and the N/A I6 N52 is probably BMW's last N/A I6 ever.

Well that is one fine looking automobile and nice photos! Funny how Spacegrau looks even better on a grey rainy day than in full sunshine.

Congratulations, 5 years on, that's what I call good value for money.

Happy Birthday E93.

Mine just turned 7years and 55,000 miles and has survived NYC potholes andseveral trips up the Mount Washington Auto Road and looks as good (perhaps better) than it did the day I got it.

In all fairness, TCHUS does look a bit different than TSCHÜS. It also took me a while to decipher it.

I am still kicking myself that when I discovered TSCHUS was taken here in Texas I didn't substitute a 5 for the first S.

T5CHUS would have at least read a little better. Nevertheless, I've discovered the folks with a nominal German background get it immediately, so it still works.

ps: I'll take that over the lack of comprehension I received from the Philadelphia based C2C contingency who insisted that the license plate was Yiddish.

Congrats Kat. Hope to hold on to mine that long too. C7 looms large though especially the vert.
I just have to keep reminding myself that the kid is still in college and dad is still paying.

My wife and I visited Fredericksburg* last year. It was the first time I have visited since my college years (in Austin), which were er...um a few years ago. Things have changed a lot there, but the German heritage is still evident.

*To those unfamiliar with the Southwest: Fredericksburg, Texas was one of several communities settled by German immigrants in the mid 1800's. It retains a lot of German flavor to this day, with food, architecture, and language.

Still looks as good as it did 5 years ago. I'm surprised you had it out in that rain.
