P1017 error code?

Help! I have an 07 328xi. It's been having trouble starting on cool mornings, and also randomly stalling in the most convenient of places, such as a busy city street or in the left lane of an interstate highway. The check engine light comes on, and then it won't start for a few minutes. Then, miraculously, the check engine light disappears, and the car runs fine. It's acting like a spoiled child!! This phenomenon started shortly after I had coil #6 replaced (after a DIFFERENT error code reading) and all new spark plugs. I went to Pep Boys today to just have the code read. I don't know what I was thinking when I thought they would actually be able to TELL ME what the code meant. So, the mechanic tells me that the code is 'P1017', but then the paperwork he gave me said 'P01017', and advised me to go to the dealer. well, THANKS, Pep Boys. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice? Thanks in advance!!!!

The car should be diagnosed by BMW to tell you what is wrong

Yep. Generic P codes don't mean squat in the bmw world. Quit wasting time at pep boys and go to a real shop.
