I may be way off - but I believe the Sport Package, Premium Package and Cold Weather Package are standard. At least I think so . . .

As for the rear climate package, I can't comment - are those heated rear seats?

Enjoy your ride!

You're correct-the only options are the NAV and the load floor...

This is odd. The only options for 4.8 are retractable load floor and NAV.
The 4.8is is the top dawg so all those "packages" are standard.

I figured as much - at least all the options I could check were no-cost comfort seats, load floor and NAV. Didn't get to order anything else.

Rear Climate Package = Rear door manual sun shades and rear heated seats.
Standard on 4.8is.

Congrats. The 4.8is is bad to the bone! Nice color choice as well.

Well then I have it (Rear Climate Package). Just out of curiosity, where are the controls for the rear seat heater? I haven't run across them yet since I've driven every mile so far. I'd hate to have them flicked on by a rear seat passenger and left on forever - unless, of course, they turn off when I turn the rig off, and remain off until activated again. Which most likely they do. . .

And I know, I should just read the manual. Thanks in advance.

Rear Seat Heater Controls

You can find the switches at the back of the console right by the a/c vents.

Cool

Howdy!

Maybe I can be of some help - like yourself, I'm a "newbie" to this board, yet, I was able to register, post about the new X5/4.4i I just purchased, and ask some questions about accessories without any flak, just lots of warm reception.

Automotive forums have become a favorite trolling ground - they don't require any proof of ownership, and they're filled with enthusiasts, so it's easy to get people riled up. So new posters are working at a deficit right up front.

This is compounded when you post that your buying one of the highest end models the board represents - your, for lack of better terms, believability, comes even more into question when you talk about dropping $75K+ on a car you seem to know very little about (i.e., usually someone would research before spending that kind of money).

Add in some initial posting where you ask questions that clash with the sensibilities of the user base ("I want to paint the covers of my capilers [sic]"..."I want to trash the OEM Nav"...), plus all sorts of questions about turbos, brembo brakes, etc - you seem to be all over the map with your goals of owning an X5.

I assume from the casual nature of asking about $5000 brake upgrades, $4000 Nav replacements, $3000 wheel swaps, and your purchasing of a $75,000 vehicle, that you're not too strapped for cash (assuming you're not yanking our collective chains) - if so, that's excellent, good to hear of people doing well (my wife and I are doing well ourselves). A word of advice though, maybe dial it back a little when you first visit a board like this - otherwise it sounds more like you've run a search engine against "X5 Upgrades", and are just making random, sweeping posts, just for the sake of posting.

I'm going to be positive, assume you have an X5 inbound, congrats! If not, no harm done, just some useless noise on this board for a few weeks, till you grow bored.

Cheers!

DT

This can be solved very quickly. Simply scan a copy of your order confirmation, etc. from the dealership and post it here. If you have the cash to buy a 4.8 I would assume you have either a scanner, or atleast access to one. Until then you may have issues with some people on here as an earlier poster pointed out. We will eitherto you for buying such a great auto or call you an :asshole: if you can't produce the proof.

You can also post a screen capture of your 4.8is build status from BMW owners circle as soon as you have the production number.

OK. So what if surreal couldn't really afford an '05 4.8is and had to pretend that he could own one?
Come on guys. Let the guy have some fun too.

I don't intend to hijack this thread into a computer thread - but how do you do a screen capture?

Several ways. The easiest is hit the PrtScn button on your keyboard, then open up Word or WordPad and select Paste. Then save the document. The only drawback is that this method captures the whole screen (-vs- a user-selected region).
The other way is to download SnagIt (www.snagit.com) and try it for free for 30 days. It's one of the best screen capture utilities.
