You can't program CICs or CCC units with a normal D/K line cable used for coding....well you can but it will take about 8 hours to flash it and you will most likely brick it.

You need an ICOM diagnostic head to flash the CCC unit.

ICOM heads are about $600

EDIT: Btw you only need to flash the CCC if you want to change the audio system levels.

If you bought a CCC that was coded for the same stereo level your car has, it should at least give you radio functions. Then you can code the CCC with a normal D/K line cable to active/deactivate features based on your VO.

Have you tried installing the new CCC yet?

Have a look on bmwcoding.com regional section to see if you can find someone local who has an ICOM head to flash your CCC.

If you were in Philly I could help you out. My co-worker has an ICOM head.

You can also look into Dynavin's aftermarket stereo solutions. See if they have something that may work for you. However, they are designed around non-iDrive based dashes.

You will have to do some custom fabrication to mount the HU.

And you can use a video interface to hi-jack the iDrive screen for aux video, back up cam etc. They can be found on eBay for around $300
