I will hold off comment until I see more--the new X with the old exterior just looks odd to me. And that big rear overhang. I dunno. The jury is still out.

Hmm, very interesting. Twin-kidney grill is massive. Styling is not too radical from current generation. I also see LED taillights. Nice
Those spy pics look credible.

Jes'a guess, but I suspect it's a test mule w/some stuff/pieces added and deleted, eg the dlb kidney is missing side pieces. From those pics, sorta Hyundai-ish; too much cladding and tacked on bits, which reinforces my test mule opin. Dunno...they are trying to be all things to too many people and cover a wide range of "mkts" with one car. The prob is 60+Gs for a middling level car, and closer to 75 loaded, I think.
Hope it gets better looking than the pics, closer to fruition, lol!

That whole rear end looks tacked on to conceal the real rear.
Have to say that it looks too much like a Jeep Cherokee Lmtd or some such truck. |

Looking at the spy pics, there doesn't seem to be enough extra length to fit in the third row of seats
But then they can cover up quite a bit with all the cladding and whatnot. Keeping my fingers crossed that the redesign is more evolutionary than revolutionary. |

I think BMW is having a few tricks up their sleeve as to the future of the X5, giving the stiff competition they're facing. Can't wait to find out.

To quote from the article:
"Inside, the X5 promises a 5 Series-like interior. " Yikes. WTF would BMW do such a horrible thing?! The interior is the ugliest part about the E60... probably the only thing that has me doubting whether or not I can live with an M5 no matter how good the drivetrain is. |

Like you all, I'll wait to see the final version before deciding but from these pictures, it looks emasculated, fat, heavy, and sad. Did I say I'd wait before deciding?

I'm not sure I like it either from the pics, but I'll wait for the final version to make a judgement. However I'm not too concerned for my next X. You could always search long and hard for a perfect used X5 from the "masculine" era. Although if most people feel the same way as us on the nes design, there may not be many used X5's available!

It's too early to tell. Md is right, that IS a "mule" clad with all sorts of fat. Surely, the "real" version will look a lot better. I'm just glad Bangle does not have his hands on this one, though I must say I hope the interior is NOT "5-Series like."
