Over90, was there a lot of interest in the MINI at the LA auto show? what was the general crowd reaction to it? and did you get a chance to sit in one to see how roomy it is?
I really want the MINI S as a second car, for my commute to work and to race unsuspecting M3's with (in my dreams)...  however, I'm definitely not getting the pikachu color scheme. i think the BMW designers have been watching too many cartoons. first, the "Smurf" Blue LSB on the M3's, now Pikachu Yellow on the MINI's...

I was there on opening day, and it seemed to me the MINI had the deepest crowd around it, considering there were like 4 of em on the floor. The 350Z had a huge crowd but it was the only one and was on a turntable.
We'll see how popular it will be overall, but considering the crowd reaction, and how NewBeetles sold like crazy here, it should do really well. I don't think any of em were unlocked that morning, although the windows were down on at least one, but it was locked with the remote so the inside handle wouldn't open the door, the same way it works on E46s.

There were so many people in the BMW area that I could barely take pictures without someone bumping into me but I think the Mini & the 745Li stole the show. I heard many people say, "Hay, they're bring that back?” I sat in the front seat and it was pretty comfy but I would not want to sit in the rear. Overall, a great little car for commuting but definitely not for a family. BTW - The chicks dig this car!
