318Ti to M3Ti conversion Ideas and knowledge needed

Im a new member to Bimmerfest, and I have a 1996 318Ti. Im lookin to put in an M3 motor and drivetrain into her. Im very mechanically inclined but Im just having trouble finding the right information on the whole conversion. If anyone out there has experiance with this any help or tips (on motor, transmission, and rear end) would be appreciated.

Also will an SMG Transmission mate to a 96 S50 M3 motor, and if it does is the ECU and other electrical work not worth the trouble? Thanks for Help guys. Always love your Bim.

Not trying to drive you away from here, I'm a member over there as well, and the E36 technical knowledge is MUCH greater there than it is here. You'll have far better luck getting any questions answered there. (Where there are at least a few ti swap owners.

SMG in any form has never been used with an S52, so far as I know. If I were you, I'd forget about it. At the very best, it'd be an incredible pain.

Good luck with the project--a 332ti is a seriously fun car.
