Another Bluetooth Question

I took ED in late September of a 2004 E60 that was built in July 2004 near the end of the model year run. As part of my ED packet, I received a plastic card titled "Bluetooth Passkey PK" described as "for pairing Bluetooth devices with your vehicle (i.e. logging them on for the first time)." Imprinted on it appears to a passkey #, an IMEI # (serial # for carphone GSM network), and an ESN # (serial # for carphone on CDMA network).

As far as I can tell, phone service is not activated on my vehicle as I get a message that says to contact my service department by scrolling through the I-Drive screens. I have software version 13.3. Does anyone know what I should do here? Have others received this card in their ED packet upon delivery in Munich and did you receive an explanation of what to do with this card?

Thanks

do a search either in the bimmerfest 5 series forum or on forums.e60.net for how to get your "MY04.5" e60 working with Bluetooth.

You might need to invent a problem (spontaneous iDrive reboots always works) to get your car recoded to the latest version (the minimum version for BT is 13.2 or 13.3) under warranty. Then you can ask your service advisor to have the tech also perform the "Tel. Bluetooth" retrofit as specified in the service bulletin the number for which you can find among your search results.

Expect to pay for approximately 1 hour of service to perform the retrofit.

I had the retrofit performed on my 03/04 production 545 and it works like a champ with my Moto v600 on the Cingular/AT&T GSM network.

Hope this helps,
-MrB

Appreciate the advice

Thanks MrB. I found the info that you referenced on E60 Forums and as the TSB from Alldata.com. Exactly as you say. Now that you mention it, my I-Drive has been hanging up on occasion with the Navigation screen. I'm sure I'll need a software update and will ask for the BT retrofit at that time...
